I would definitely go with the 179, especially since its a softer ski (and has rocker). Im close to your size (5'11" - 180 pounds) and skied last years model in 179, it definitely didn't feel to big, if anything it skied a little shorter than my 178 El Reys.

I already have a helmet that i wore last year, but i didn't like it because it looked way too big, I want a low profile helmet that still works well, is this helmet good for that catogory? ----thanks for answer.

Well dude, if your looking to ski switch and park, i would get twin-tips, twin tips are actually cheaper than alot of regular carve skis too, i had the mistake of starting with carve skis when i wanted to ride park, you can still ride switch, but not much else. Also get a pair of twin-tips that can rip the whole mountain.

Im looking to get a pair of twin-tips, I ski groomers and ski the whole mountain, a little park skiing (well what i can do without twin-tips.) I was wondering what it ment when skis are called "true twin tips" and just "twin-tips" is there a difference?
