Familiarity: I've used it several times
This bag fell about 5 ft from a shelf on to a tile bathroom floor, landing on end. My laptop was fine.
The laptop retainer adjusts to secure the laptop in the center of the framesheet, allowing a space between the edge of the frame and your laptop, so the frame absorbs impact, not your laptop; it's not just the sleeve pocket type I have seen on other bags.
"Squid Ink"color is closer to purple than the intense blue color shown in the photos. It is a very tasteful color, but wasn't what I was expecting. Pocket lining is white.
Bag is great for school, or similar activities. Well designed pockets for organizing small stuff and prioritizing access. It's a great, sleek, bag for those who don't like the idea of hauling around a small bookcase.
I was concerned before purchasing about it not having compression straps; not an issue. Carries loads very securely.
Streamlined, second-to-none design, classic Arc'teryx.
