Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I finally caved and bought these after years of wasting time burying various items or using axes/poles for snow anchors. They're pretty bomber and it is nice to not worry about macgyvering tie-outs. They could be a bit lighter (dyneema maybe?), but to their credit have repeatedly stood up to being aggressively chopped out with an ice tool.

These things are pretty awesome. Very agile, as close to a climbing boot as possible with current AT boot options. Skinning is a dream, the amount of ankle flex almost lets you sprint. For a splitboard they flex well and may even ride better than soft boots. They climb and ski/board great, only a few issues.

The last is very very narrow, so much that they feel tight even after punching the shells on both sides. The grilamid is hard to mold, but does not seem very durable either. Hard to understand the choice of plastic there... It only takes one pitch of offwidth/chimney to beat the crap out of the shells.

They are also very decidedly not waterproof. No better than other AT boots atm, but still a let down to get wet liners when snow doesn't even come over the cuffs.

Just a few gripes, but I when all's said and done I will definitely buy another pair when I eventually grind a hole through these.

Very finicky adjustment mechanism that is easy to over-tighten and then spend 10 minutes cursing while trying to unscrew at the top of the hill. However, if left even slightly under-tightened they will come right apart. Had to go digging for sections of pole two times now.

Perfectly adequate for the price, but don't waste the money if you can spend a little more on something nicer.

Picked this up one year ago and never looked back. This thing is sick. By far the most comfortable harness I've ever worn in terms of all-day comfort, and then it folds up to half the size of other harnesses. Also, a smaller detail, but the gear loops feel much easier to clip than either BD or Petzl.

Leg loops might be a little tight for those with bigger thighs, but overall sizing actually felt large. I'm usually a medium, and I fit into a small cinched as tight as it can go.
