While my head's circumference is 22.25 inches, a medium is not the right fit. The back velcro adjustment will accomodate your head, but the stretchy band that is built in the skirt part will be too tight on your head. Size up if you are leery of a brain-squeezing band around your head.
Is the back of the brim going to whack against a tall backpack? From the OR website, the back of the brim is cited at 3.75 inches on the M, which I will get (22.25in head).
I know the question can be asked a lot, but Right Zip means, laying down, its on MY right? This is important cause I'll be using it in a Black Diamond Bivy, which has the tiny right zipper.
In the last few years I've gone through a few pairs (they don't last forever you know!), but each pair has been beat to death. Hiking all the trails, scrambling sharp abrasive traprock here in Western Mass, climbing trees (Maples with coarse bark and tight branch-crotches), and using it to bike with due to the ankle support: These shoes last for easily 3 years a pair doing all this stuff, constantly. For three season weather, these are prime.
Once you factor in water, they may dissapoint you, but maybe not. Usually if you end up spending more than a few hours in the wet (mud after rain, SNOW) they will seep & get damp, but they are ventilating shoes, so you will dry out.
In scorching summer and freezing winter they keep you comfortable, have enough play to fit your range of socks, and most importantly, the VIBRAM sole is indestructable. All the old pairs I've retired had to go because of internal fabric shredding or the shoe material ripping up. The soles still had easily a couple years of real good grip left. And those soles do have grip!
They look great, break in ultra-nice, and are a steal being under 100$. Perfect for a casual to serious dayhiker, or anyone who is walking around nature.
Oh shoot. Sizing Chart. Um, ok so I'm 6' , with a 30" waist, but weigh only 135. The chart has me juggling medium and large; medium for my waist but large for my height. Help?
What is the width of the foot area in this Bivy? Will it fit 20 inch pads way down there?
Size 11 boots. Wearing these in the warm seasons with lighter pants, AND winter with heavier pants, is the L or the XL better choice?
If my size was 11 with the Merrell Moab Vents, would 11 with these be the correct size, or do boot's size vary from lesser shoes?
I'm exactly 6 ft, so would the regular be "snug and warm" or cramped and awful. Inversely, would the large be too large (i.e. drafty)?
