4 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 155 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

Sometimes TNF just kills it, and this simple but well-made hoodie is a case-in-point. Even the subdued half dome logo of the same color embossed on the chest is a slick feature that I really appreciate. It doesn't have to be huge, loud THE NORTH FACE in your grill all the time. Especially when you're talking about a piece you would be just as likely to wear hungover, skinning up on a warm spring day, or on your next trip to Yosemite... i.e. not a fashion show, but it should still look tight, fit great, and last a long time. I would be silly for a hoodie just like this, but with a smaller half-dome version of the embossed logo, and maybe take out the text. Minimal style, less is more. Fits is athletic/slim but not too slim.

Bomber Pro-shell Gore-tex Jacket
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best backcountry snowboarding jacket I've owned to date. The Gore-tex pro-shell and zippers are bomb-proof. The fit is perfect and the jacket looks awesome. The only thing that I don't like is the size of the hood (it's on the small side) but if you size up it's not as much an issue. I'm 5'10" 165lbs and a size small fits perfectly with enough room to layer. Go up in size if you like a baggier fit.

You really can't go wrong with AK. The higher price-point fabric is definitely worth it. This is an excellent jacket that's worth the money.
