Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small
I've worn these shorts for 10 years or so, gone through 4-5 pairs, surfing, rivers, swimming, diving, hiking, kickin'it...The old ones were the best; 2 HUGE cargo pockets with zippers, a zippered back pocket, two mesh front pockets. A full cut. A comfortable, stretchy mesh liner. Add a stretchy belt with a bomber ladder-lock buckle, these short never came off once.
Now, the Snake River "11" shorts are here. Reverse everything I just said; only ONE zippered pocket (in a river short?), and it's too small to put anything in. All the other pockets "close" with the smallest piece of velcro you've ever seen. The belt stretches no longer and has a cheap, flimsy buckle that comes apart at the smallest movement. Worse of all, if you're a man, the mesh liner is cut so tight and is so non-stretchy that your junk feels like it's being squished in a vice.
Like I said: used to be great. Now just cheap and a rip-off, IMHO
