Rachael Van Dolah's Bio

While a native to South Carolina and drawn to the coast, warmth, and the sunshine, I have uprooted for a change of pace and have now called Salt Lake City, UT home for the past 4 years. With a variety of terrain, Utah offers endless opportunities to get out and explore. When the weather is warm, I can be found camping, hiking, running, backpacking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee all over the state. When winter is back in full swing, I tend to stay in the Salt Lake area and can be found skiing up at Snowbird or snowshoeing with the pups in Millcreek.

This is my new go to winter jacket. I love the style, color, fit, length, and warmth. I have always been opposed to longer jackets and I have found that I have been missing out this entire time. It is amazing how much warmer you stay when your behind and thighs are shielded from the cold. I can confirm I don't have a single complaint for this item at this time. I will warn however that this jacket runs large. I typically select a Medium in most styles and the Small fit me perfectly with space for a few layers below.

I gave this item as a gift and the recipient loved it. I must say, I was a bit surprised at the item received in my order however as I do not think the photo really does the item justice. The fleece is much lighter in weight and more textured then it appears in this photo. Overall a great style and a nice weight for layering. I would say the sizing on the size chart is a bit off. I selected the XL for the longer arm and torso, but it was a bit more boxy in fit then I expected. A larger XL than most.

This is an item found on my Dad's xmas list item each year and it was a hit once again. I purchased the Carbon color (This is a Blue, not grey) and he loves it. He lives in South Carolina and it is the perfect weight for any outdoor activity he tends to do in the fall, winter, or early spring. This item has plenty of length in the torso and arms and does not appear baggy on him. I know others have complained about the tricky fit, but it fits him wonderfully and he has been pleased with this item year after year. Quality wise, I also have not heard any complaints from him. He tends to take care of his items so they probably last a little longer than most (washing cold and hang dry). The material has held up to days of fishing, hiking, camping, around town use, and travel. He has only requested one each year for additional colors to add to his collection.

I purchased this item as a Christmas gift and the recipient seemed to really like it. I was not familiar with this brand before I purchased, but I took a chance at the advice of a bike customer service representative. Overall this item is great. Wonderful ventilation (pictures do not do it justice), a nice tailored fit (not baggy and not slim), comfortable material, and a great design.

I gave this item as a gift and the recipient loves it. Perfect weight for a mid weight winter layer. Fit ran true to size. I purchased the Glass Blue and the color arrived as pictured. The one thing I did not realize is that the item actually has very small stripes in the material that is hard to see when looking at the picture on the website (seen if you zoom in on the picture). Overall a great purchase.

I gave this item as a gift and my mom absolutely loves it. Cute style and great fit. Overall she was very pleased. I purchased this in the Falcon Brown and the color came out a little darker than expected, but still a really nice shade. I would advise sizing down a bit if you are on the fence between two sizes. I found that this brand runs a bit large in the majority of styles I have purchased.

I gave this item as a gift over Christmas, and it truly is the perfect size coffee to go mug. Should fit in almost every car cup holder and is great at keeping your coffee nice and hot. I purchased the Klean Kanteen Cafe Cap to allow this to be a water bottle and coffee mug. May be on the small side as a water bottle only, but still handy to have for shorter trips.

I gave this item as a gift and it worked out perfectly. Light weight, but warm, easy to move around in, and a nice layering tool. Although the recipient typically wear a Large, I ended up sizing up one size because he has longer arms, longer torso, and does not like slim fitting items. The specs suggest the item is said to be loose, but I suspect this is loose compared to other item sold by Under Armor, not necessarily other brand. Overall this worked wonderfully and he is very pleased with the item fit, size, and quality.

I purchased this item as a gift for my dad and it is perfect. He lives in South Carolina where the winters rarely get too nasty so the triclimate fit the bill. With an interior layer and exterior layer that can be worn independent of one another or together, he will be covered for any condition this winter. The jacket also fits very nicely and does not look bulky on him at all. He tends to wear Larges in most brands, but has longer arms and is a bit longer in the torso so I sent both Large and XL for him to try. Turns out both fit, but the large was the best match in the end. Based off of this, I believe the sizing is true to size. I would say he is probably around 6'2 and 175 - 180lbs?

The Pro Shoe Crampon is wonderful. I love to throw them on when on an icy slick trail or even a sidewalk to avoid busting my behind. These work wonderfully. I have tried a number of brands and styles over the years, but I really like that this particular one has a strap that goes over the top of your foot to ensure it stays in place. Overall I woudl highly recommend.

Please keep in mind when sizing you may need to size up if you intend to use winter boots. I wear a 9 women's shoe and winter boot so I selected the small said to fit 6.5 to 10. It was a workout trying to put these on. I ended up needing to exchange for the Medium which is for 10.5 to 12 to work for my Sorel and Vasque winter boots.

I love the fit, the colors, and the style. Light weight, comfortable, and durable when washed. Overall I would highly recommend this shirt as well as many of the Toad and Co styles. The Allisa in particular ran large so you may want to consider sizing down.

You may see a review of these pants that I posted a little over a year ago and I am back again. My sister loved mine so much that she put it on her birthday list this year. Overall I can say we have both been sold on Marmot and I honestly love the versatility this style offers for a any weather you could encounter (shorts, capri, and pants). The pant material is light weight, quick drying, and durable (the dogs have tested this one by jumping up on me). I would highly recommend. I can confirm that the sizing has not change within the past year and you will likely still want to size up. I typically wear 4 and sized up to a 6. My sister wears a 2 and is exchanging for a 4.

My size: 5'7, 135lbs
Sister: 5'4, 115-120lbs

I have had this style and similar Bridgedale socks for years and they honestly hold up well. I have yet to throw any away from holes, fading, or failure at this time. Overall I have loved the brand and I love this particular style. Would highly recommend as a good hiking or even everyday sock if you are looking for something more midweight. The specs say "mid-calf" and I woudl disagree. this sock comes to the center of your ankle bone or roughly 3 to 3 1/2 inches from the ground. The photo shown is what will arrive, not a mid calf sock.

*** 9.0 foot in women's and i purchase a Medium in this brand.

I may have a slight obsession with Dakine packs and luggage because they are all just too awesome. In addition, they last forever so I change my opinion on the pattern before the bag fails. A good problem I guess. Well, added a new one to my collection and I LOVE it. It is a great size to carry a lap top, lunch, and a few misc layers for a chilly office. Pretty basic design and less burly than some of their other styles, but plenty of storage and the perfect design for what I need. Overall would highly recommend!

I found this item while browsing for bags and fell in love. I purchased this in the Castlerock color and I think it is wonderful and very close to the color pictured. I was also so excited to find out that under the flap there is not only an interior zipper and a few organization pockets, but a main zipper as well to ensure that anything you put inside, stays there. The shoulder strap has plenty of holes for adjusting the length of the strap and is sturdy at about 1 inch in width. I prefer bag straps on the longer side since I wear my bag across my chest and it works well for me. Overall I am not disappointed my my purchase and would recommend this style to anyone.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: Runs small
Size Purchased: 9.0

I purchased these boots because I loved the look of the style and the color of the Dark Brown Euroveg. I found the color a bit darker in person, but found it to be a really nice rich brown. The shoe was well designed and the quality was great. I ended up returning because I found that while I wear a solid 9.0 in most shoe brands, this ran quite a bit shorter than I was expecting and was far more narrow than would work for my foot even if I went to a 9.5. If you have a narrow foot or are on the narrow end of a regular these will fit you well!
