Rachael Van Dolah's Bio

While a native to South Carolina and drawn to the coast, warmth, and the sunshine, I have uprooted for a change of pace and have now called Salt Lake City, UT home for the past 4 years. With a variety of terrain, Utah offers endless opportunities to get out and explore. When the weather is warm, I can be found camping, hiking, running, backpacking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee all over the state. When winter is back in full swing, I tend to stay in the Salt Lake area and can be found skiing up at Snowbird or snowshoeing with the pups in Millcreek.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I purchased this boots a replacement for my boyfriend as he not only does quite a bit of hiking on trails, but he also landscapes 5 days a week (10+ hour days). This is the only boot we have found that has held up to the abuse that he and landscaping can put on the shoes. Great design, comfortable, and offers great ankle protection without getting too toasty in the summer heat. Where other shoes have failed within a month or two, these have held up for a full year of hard work and play before they finally have had enough. Would highly recommend to anyone. As long as Keen carries this shoe, this will be our go to style for years to come.

As for sizing, I know everyone tends to have a slightly different view. His foot is a bit on the wide side so we have found sizing to be spot on. If you are not a wide however, you may find this a bit more roomy than other styles.

I purchased a pair of these sandals a few years ago and loved them so much I can back for more once I finally walked through my previous pair. Comfortable shoes, great traction for a flip flop, light weight, and all around a great purchase. I would recommend these to anyone.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Fit: True to size
Size Purchased: 12.0

I purchased this item as a gift so I may have to wait for additional feedback, but to start he seemed to really love the shoes. Comfortable fit, great design, and should be sturdy enough for years of use. The gift recipient is using the shoes for a Birthday rafting trip and wanted something that will drain well, offer great traction, and protect the toes from getting squished. I thought these would fit the bill and it sounds like they will. The nice thing is they can be quite versatile as I have found with a similar pair in women's.

** In years past I know sizing has been a little funky with the Keen styles. Fortunately Keen may have figured out sizing on this one. He typically wears a 12.0 and the 12.0 fit perfectly. I suspect this will fit most men with a average width foot fairly well in their typical shoe size.

I purchased this item because it was recommended to me by a friend and I think I will be very satisfied with the helmet this summer. Light weight, easy to adjust, plenty of ventilation, and a nice brim to keep the sun off a bit. I only have initial impressions as I have been slow to pull the bikes out this season, but from what I can tell at this point, the helmet will fit the bill.

*** Size appears to be true. I have a smaller head and purchased the small which fits perfectly with a few simple adjustments.

I gave this item as a gift for Mother's Day since my mom is interested in lap swimming this summer. While I have not used this exact pair purchased, I have used this style and I love them. They are very comfortable, easily adjusted, work well even with smaller faces, and stay in place when swimming. Simple design and lower in price, but I have been very happy with my TYR goggles.

I gave this item as a gift and it was a total hit. Beautifully designed and well made. This was recently given so I do not have any feedback to provide at this time on break in time or durability but the previous reviews were helpful when I was searching. From what I can tell this is a wonderful seat and I know the recipient will love it for years to come.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 135 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I purchased this jacket as I was in need of a lighter piece for spring skiing. I run quite cold so this is spring weight in my mind and it certainly fit the bill. I really have enjoyed this piece the last 4 times I have been out. Day 1 and 2 were quite chilly (low 30's with a much colder windchill) but with a few layers under I was perfectly warm. Day 3-4 were sunny and 60 and I simply wore a T-Shirt under and was comfortable. This may not be the case for everyone, but this really was a great purchase for the Utah spring when the weather seems a bit confused as to which season it really is. Features on this jacket have been great. Plenty of pockets, perfect length, and vents that are easy to open and close. All in all this one was a hit.

** Two cons:
1. The inside of my jacket (black) came with a very loud leopard print. It wasn't enough to return, but I certainly was not expecting it from the photos shown.

2. No pass pocket for scanning. Not a big deal here as our resorts have primarily switched to electronic badges, but still a pain to pull out a pass for a manual scan when needed.

I purchased this item because I feel in love with two other Vans styles very similar to this. Ultimately I ended up returning the pair purchased simply because they were too large. I held outhope that sizing up a half size, since they were out of stock in the color I wanted in a 9.0, would work. I was wrong. Overall the construction of this shoe is very similar to the other shoes I have and I know they will hold up well. The removable insert is really nice for wearing the shoes without socks and simply takes a little soap and rinse to remove any foot smell. My existing Vans (last season) have held up well with regular use and once they are back in stock in my size I will be stocking up.

Sizing is true to standard sizing. I range typically between 9.0 and 9.5 women and I am a solid 9.0 in this brand. The first day they feel a hair snug, but after a few hours walking in them the fabric will loosen and you will have a perfect fit. If you intend to wear these with socks however you may need to size up. In my personal experience, the 9.0 is pretty snug on with socks.

I purchased this pant while looking at more of a spring weight style and ended up ultimately returning simply due to warmth, but I must say that if I was looking for a warmer pant this would have fit the bill. The construction was really nice, fabric would hold up well to abrasion, the colors were great(I purchased the green/blue color and the grey), the zip feature to other Volcom products is a plus, and the fabric was nice and stretchy. Overall the features were spot on.

I purchased this item as a birthday gift and the recipient loves them. He put them on as soon as he received them and has worn them every sunny day since. A great all around sunglass for day to day use, fishing, hiking, biking, etc. He tends to take care of his belongings so I am not sure that he has tested out the durability much, but just from the look and feel they are a solid construction and should hold up for quite some time. Only time will tell.

I absolutely love this style so much that I came back for two more this spring. Incredibly comfortable with a light weight and quick drying fabric, soft and stretchy waist band, and breathable athletic brief. Overall a great purchase.

Overall a great addition to your pack on any hiking excursion where water sources will be available. Compact, lightweight, and simple to use. The material seems to be quite durable and should hold up well with time. I must mention that I was a little surprised to find that taking a sip of water was more work than I initially thought it would be. I will probably be sticking to clear running water so sludge/dirt does not clog this up and make it any more challenging. Overall a great lightweight option and well worth the price.

It is still a little chilly outside so I have only tried this style on indoors, but the fit is great, the material is nice and light weight, seems to have a bit of stretch, and I suspect the material will hold up quite well with washing and abrasion. I purchased this in the Stoneleigh Taupe color but the material is plenty thick and I do not find this to be sheer in any way. The sizing chart was spot on for me. I purchased the size 4 and they fit well.

I finally got around to purchasing this style this year and I absolutely love it. A bit sad though that I have been missing out all of this time. It is still a little chilly outside so I have only tried this one indoors, but the fit is great, material is very nice, and stretch is a wonderful addition. I purchased in the Scorpo/Channel Blue, but the material is plenty thick so if you have your eye on the bleach stone I do not think you need to fear that this will be sheer in any way. The shorts are plenty long for coverage. In addition, the sizing chart appears to be spot on. I purchased the size 4 and they fit great. Would be a perfect addition to your summer wardrobe.

I must confess that while I liked the bottom, I highly disliked the top and chose to return the full suit. The fabric was nice and the style was very cute. This bottom had a flattering detail at the rear and had roughly 3/4 coverage. Overall a cute bottom, but not worth keeping without a matching top. Hard to say how this material would hold up when wet but I suspect this may be more of a sunning suit than a swimming suit.

*** Also, sizing was a little tough. I fell between the Medium and Large on the size chart. While the top ran smaller than suggested I found the bottom to run larger. The Large was huge on me and the Medium was still a bit too big. I suspect I fall between a small and a medium in this brand.
Typically 28/29 waist or size 4 pants if this is helpful.

I was super excited about this item because I love the look of the suit, but I was disappointed by the fit, quality, and style. The triangles are fixed and are spread quite far from one another, although I sized up the triangles were very small, I had difficulty with the rear clasp getting it through the sewn hole, and the padding in the suit would not stay put for the sake of trying on so I suspect swimming is out of the question. Overall a really cute pattern to the fabric and a great looking design, but not functional for my needs and did not fit me properly

I purchased this item as a birthday gift for a friend in Cinder and I love the fit and color, as did he. Well made down jacket with a tailored, but not snug fit. The jacket was nice and warm, but not too bulky and had plenty of length. Sizing chart appears to be accurate as the Large fit perfectly. I did purchase the item in two colors from the start just to make sure I liked the color and both Cinder and Blue Night arrived as pictured. Only returned the blue because I did not have a need for two down jackets for one gift. Would highly recommend.

I gave this item as a gift, but have feedback to share. I waited a little to review to see if any complaint came up about this binding quality as he was sort of anti Burton at the start, but nothing has been brought to my attention at this time and he has put a solid 20 full days on this binding. Overall he raves about this model and finds it comfortable and sturdy for his resort riding needs. Overall a great purchase. I purchased the Splinter color in a size Large and it has worked well size wise with his 10.0 DC boots. At the very start he had concerns about the binding fitting his boot due to the length, but this was easily adjusted with a few snaps on the base plate.

I gave this item as a gift, but have feedback to share. The pants are a wonderful fit and sounds like they are the perfect weight for his winter adventures. Warm, but not too warm for spring and overall a very comfortable style. Easy to move around in without restriction and nice features like ventilation which will help as the temperatures warm up. Overall this style was a hit and will work well. He also confirmed that sizing was perfect.
