Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've been using this as my daypack for a couple years now and have really put it to the test day in and day out. Used this every day working for Grand Teton this summer and its perfect for a light dayhiker or even for some mountaineering (has spots for ice axes). Love this pack because its the LARGEST most accommodating 18L pack I've ever seen. Has a spot for water res outside of the pack so it doesnt take extra space. I fit breakfast, lunch, rain gear, binocs, spotting scope, 2L water, and telemetry gear in this every day. Tight, but it totally gets the job done. Can't say enough about this pack, would like one of every size.
2 cons: side pockets for water bottles totally unreachable when wearing pack, but that's not uncommon for a pack this size. second, the hip belt is almost entirely useless, but this thing fits so snug you really don't even need it.
