It will be difficult to find something like that. Chances are, your friend won't decide on a skiing style for the first year or two and by the time he is an advanced skier will want to be on longer boards than what he should use to get to that point. My experience with all liberty skis is that they are super responsive like to go fast... very fast and they are a bit stiff for what most beginners will like. My advice is to go with something a bit damper and more forgiving to make him advance more quickly. Armada elray and ARV are good advanced skier options that are forgiving enough to not frustrate beginners. Also, look into rossignol. I'm not familiar with where they've gone in the last few years but they used to make some fun but forgiving skis in their scratch lineup.
