Tight Lines's Bio

I grew up on the East Coast, and went to school in the green, green "mountains" of Vermont. My husband's job took us to Utah -- and now we love it.

Fit: True to size

I'm in love with these shoes. I have a four year old, and each year as his foot grows, I buy a new pair. They are so incredibly easy to take on and off (so easy that he can do it himself). They are durable. After an entire season of being worn everyday they are still in good enough shape to be passed down to his younger brother. And as if that wasn't enough they have a closed toe which is essential for any little one.

The red wax is a standard in Utah. It handles vast majority of the conditions we see mid-year and does a pretty good job with super cold blasts too. (I hardly ever use the blue.) For warmer Pacific storms and spring time, switch to yellow.

I've been using the cold wax for most mornings in the Wasatch this year. It's worked well for me, not to mention it's a lot cheaper than some of the more established big brands. For a few warmer storms, I used the warm wax. Also been great. (I haven't had the need to try the all-temperature -- rotating the cold and warm has worked well.)

LIke a lot of people, I used a beat up clothes iron for many years. I wish that I had switched earlier. I checked the temperature setting on the TOKO with an IR thermometer I had the garage, and it was right on. The beveled edge makes navigating wax drops a lot quicker and smoother. It feels like a lot of money for a simple device, but it amounts to pennies per wax over the lifetime that this iron will last.
