Helinox table one
5 5

I received this table as a gift. It will be a welcome addition to our next trip into the BWCA. I've used it several times already for ice fishing excursions with great success. It sets up in a flash and is really sturdy--surprisingly so. I also love the carrying case and the way the table fits back into it. The zipper opens the bag all the way down for easy access. Unlike the carrying bag that came with my REI flex lite chair, which is a little bit of a tight fit. I'm not a backpacker (although it's intrigung) but if I were, I would make room for this table in my pack. It's a luxury item, but well worth it. Right now, I keep this table and my flex lite in the car. They have come in as a handy duo more than once when we are out and about. Bottom line, it's the best portable table I've come across and am happy to have it.

After reading umpteen reviews and narrowing down my choices to the Petzl Tikka XP and the Black Diamond Storm, I chose the storm on a recommendation from Goat Staff and lumen power. Yes, the Storm is heavier (4 vs. 3 triple A) but not so heavy that it bothers me while wearing it. Thus far, I have only used it to get wood from the woodpile to the sauna and from the cabin to the car and a couple of short periods at home, but I can tell you it is BRIGHT. It has the main spot light and the two side lights, both of which are great, a red light which is fairly dim and maybe not bright enough to be useful and also about 73 other settings, most of which I would never need if I lived to be 100. The strap fits nicely and adjusts easily, the tilt mechanism on the lamp works well and I also like that the plastic piece on the strap acts as a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. I ordered the black version and within a week, my son ordered the green and white one for himself. It should prove very useful on Boy Scout trips. Hope this helps you if you're trying to choose a lamp. By the way, Backcountry staff was quite helpful on their livechat and even matched the sale price of a competitor's web site.
