Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I've had this boot for 2 seasons now, and I use it for hiking and a bit of scrambling. I love the lightness of this boot, the snug fit, the ankle support, the rubber welt to protect from rocks, the flared heel which provides great stability going down rocks & steep trails. I love the forefoot flex which lets my foot roll normally. I definitely would buy another pair of these, but right now, mine are still in good shape.

I am loving my new TLT6 women's specific Mountain boot.
I love the flex; ease of use; interchangable tongues; and locking system. I no longer get achilles tendonitis with the flex pattern of this boot. I've been using them with a very beefy ski and they are working fine. Plus I love the colors and they fit to perfection my narrowish foot.

I've used these socks for years and they always come out ahead of other brands. They are very tough, don't blow out at the toe, warm for cold Canadian air, and the shock absorption helps preserve your knees on mountain descents. Very dependable and long-living sock. Plus, they fit well.

This boot is so different from my old mountaineering boots! They are so light, you can't believe they are on your feet. The fit is perfect for my more narrow-medium type foot; and I love the flex in the toe box. Without that, my achilles act up. I need that flex and the Rapace provides it. In addition, the boots snug up nicely around my midfoot with a superior lacing system. And somehow, those ankle support cables, they really work well! They support the ankle without making the foot feel like it is trapped in a cage: i.e. the ankle is free to flex where it wants. I love this boot! I've been using it for mountaineering and hiking.

I just received my Rapace boots and gave them a whirl on a steep ridge loop in the Rockies. They are sooooooo light! And the lacing allows a snug fit throughout. I liked the ankle support and 3/4 shank. The ankle support allowed me to flex thoroughly at the ankle, while it protected my ankle. And the shank allowed some flex which I really need to avoid achilles problems. The shock absorption was good as well. The size 10 boot fit my size 10 feet perfectly. I love this boot and can't wait to get in them again!

I think I blew it when I bought the 170's. I think I should have gone shorter. I have real trouble in the trees making these things turn. Verrrrrry stiff. Even in Pow, I have to jump to get the ski to turn, whereas others just wiggle to and fro. I am frustrated!

Mustagh Ata

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second year skiing the Mustagh Ata. I bought it for long tours because it is lightweight; but was surprised to experience the great performance this ski had on the Wapta Glacier Traverse (4 days) last winter.
I'm 134 lbs and 5 ft 7, so the 169 cm was quite long enough for me. I was delighted with the powder performance coming off the glacier with a huge pack. It was a blast.
Then, I was further surprised at the deeper powder experience I had last weekend at Golden's Kicking Horse outback. The skis turned very well. I felt like a pro, even though I rate myself only an intermediate pow skier, having been raised on back east ice.
I can't rate these skis for tight trees, as I am afraid of steeps and trees. Hopefully some day I'll master this.
P.S. The skis are great for long tours, which was the original purpose of my buying them. They also carved better than the Manaslu's on our return to the ski hill from out-of-bounds.

I love this shirt.....great color (cactus), tailored fit, long sleeves (I'm a woman with long arms so I buy men's smalls all the time)..... repels much wind so it doesn't breathe as well as some thinner fleece, so I use it when I need more heat.....like winter time and late fall... or stormy mountain weather. I love the pocket on the chest and arm. I love the high neck....since mine needs more protection or I get sore throats. And I love the long torso length since I have a long torso. I love the weave of the fleece.... gives a permanent loft to the fabric. It washes and dries super.
The only thing is that under pack belts the fabric does pill up. But I'm living with that!
