More Arcteryx sub-standard tat.
1 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this in October 2013. On day 3 of ownership i wore it on a day out hiking. Within 6 hours of it being beneath my rucksack hipbelt it bobbled/pilled on the inside, on the mesh pockets. Beneath my Gamma MX was my arcteryx baselayer. Not good at all.

I should have learned my lesson from last years saga of my Strato hoody. That bobbled after its first wash. After being lectured into how to care for arcteryxs' products, my replacement bobbled, before its first wash. So it wasn't a washing/care issue.

General everyday friction is enough to damage the clothing.

My Covert hoody that is 4 years old shows very little sign of bobbling. So all i can think is that their materials that they use now, are sub standard.

I won't be wasting any more of my hard earned money on overpriced, below average, tat.

People should be aware that very few items are actually made at the arcteryx Canadian factory. Everything else is made in China, like this over priced and over rated hoody.

Why oh why can i not give a zero star rating. Thats all this is worth.

Fit: True to size

I purchased the latest Beta AR Pants in August when they came out. Today 30/12/13, they saw their first proper use. I went up Helvellyn. It rained, and rained, and snowed. Within 2 hours they had wet out around my groin (fly zipper was up). By the time i reached my car (3.5 hours), enough water had soaked into my trousers, which fried my mobile phone, which was in my pocket. Nice one Arcteryx!
Why did they fail? They are BRAND NEW. They shouldn't need treating.
You state 'guarantee waterproof protection'.
Notice the key word WATERPROOF. I purchased these expecting to be kept dry. I think this is called 'misleading'.

Arcteryx are good at one thing, its called Marketing. Don't be drawn in by it, because the Arcteryx bubble is an expensive bubble to burst.

I purchased the latest Beta AR gloves in September 2013.
I have only started using these during December. Above 6c they are obviously too hot to wear. But last week when I was on Blencathra at a temperature of 1c (windchill -5) I could feel the cold slightly on the back of both hands, ring & little fingers. My thoughts at the time were they aren't going to be any good when I come to use them for proper winter use.

Today 30/12/13, they saw their first proper use. I went up Helvellyn. It rained, and rained, and snowed. Within 2 hours they had wet out. It started at the finger tips and work upwards. In the time it took to put on my crampons my fingers went painfully numb due to them wetting out.
Oh, and yes, the gloves were beneath my Alpha SV sleeves. I'm not daft.

The mention of them being dexterous... Hahaha, they are as challenging as using boxing gloves to open a packet of crisps. Maybe after getting used to them they'd be better but, I WANT A REFUND from the shop that sold them to me (not this website) as I feel that I have been mis-sold them.

Would I recommend these to someone? Like all my previously purchased Arcteryx, NOT A CHANCE!

170 uk pounds. Without a shadow of doubt, I need to give my head a rattle! You would expect them to work. Now knowing how useless that they are, I wouldn't pay 30 uk pounds for a pair.

Very disappointed

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm very disappointed with this hoody. My first one was replaced a few weeks after its first wash, as it pilled (bobbled). It wasn't down to the way I washed it either. The second started to pill/bobble before its first wash. It wears where the arms rub against the body, whether it be zipped up or not. It still looks brand new around the shoulders & upper back. This material wears away by friction. It looks old within months. I strongly think that this product needs to be shelved until they can make a material that won't wear away so soon. My 3 year old Arc'teryx Covert hoody took over 2 years to start pilling.
I have only given this a 1 star because it won't let me rate it any lower.
Please people, just look at my photo attached. It's an awful hoody to own.
