Marlene's Bio

I grew up all over the West coast. I don't really call one place home, but I ended up in Salt Lake almost 6 years ago now. Started snowboarding and haven't been able to leave since.
When I'm not at work or school, I am getting into trouble on the mountain. Or exploring new places.

Fit: True to size

I am 5'1 about 120 lbs and ordered size small. I love the nice snug slim fit of the parka. It is really versatile, you can dress it up with a skirt or something fancy, or you can rock it out on the mountain on a cold day. Full length zip and a cozy hood. I love the low profile fit, its flattering and has enough room to layer a little underneath without adding bulkiness. I don't think I could ask for a better parka. This one is a keeper!

I ordered the Small Chestnut color. I am 5'1 and about 120 lbs. It fits perfect, just enough room to layer even a nanopuff under for those colder days or just to throw it on over whatever else I am wearing. I love the Chestnut color, I would say it is exactly as pictured on the site. I love the two buttons above the zipper that snap to give a little more protection when its windy & cold. There is also a button that falls below the zipper near your thighs that is convenient, that way you don't have to zip the jacket all the way to the thighs for an award fit.

I have several pairs of this version of the smartwool series. I personally LOVE these socks because I wear really tight fitting boots so the last thing I want is a thick sock. These socks breathe better than anything else my feet have ever been in. All while still being able to effectively keep them just as warm! I use these for all types of shredding. Cold pow days, sunny park days, or just cruising around the mountain. Anyone who has problems with their feet freezing during the day should check these out. You won't regret it. Smartwool also added new stitching this year to the heel and the toes to prevent tear&wear.

I normally wear size 7 in street shoes and picked up a pair of 7's in these as well. They fit true to size! They are a snug fit, I don't wear socks with mine but clearly that is a personally preference. I wore them in some relatively chilly temps (40-50 Degrees) and they surprisingly kept my feet really warm. Love the fit, very comfortable. I would say I have a little bit of a narrower foot, so these may be a little uncomfortable for someone with wider feet.

I am normally a size 7 and ordered a 37, they fit me perfect! These are probably my favorite pair of running kicks ever. I've used these all over the place and they never fail to deliver. I use these at the gym, trail running, light hiking, taking my dog for a run around the park. They really are a do it all. I love how breathable they are in the upper material. Great for those warmer temps but still not too breathable when it cools off. They are super durable as well.

These are by far the best boots I've ever stepped into. I am a street size 7 but I like my boots to be really snug so I went down to a 23.5 which translate to size 4. Really easy to break it, nice out of the box fit. I went the extra mile and got custom foot beds made for my boots (which I would HIGHLY recommend). My feet never got cold in these and that is considering that I have pretty poor circulation in my feet. I wish all Salomon would come up with a better lacing system though, its not the worst. However, I find myself tightening my boots periodically throughout the day. I highly recommend these boots. I ride 5-6 days a week and these puppies will be good for at least another half season.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

This was a gift for a lady friend of mine, ordered her a medium. She is about 5'8 and a slender girl. It fit her great! The style of this top might make it seem like its too big. However, that is how its supposed to fit. Looks very classy! You can wear it with a high waisted skirt, some patterned leggings, or even some really nice colored jeans! Another great Sitka piece. :)

I bought these as a gift for my best friend. Ordered a size 28 and they fit her perfectly, she is about 5'8 and a slender young lady. I would say the fit was pretty true to size. I ordered the black for her, they are great because you can dress them up or down. A great piece to have as a female!

In love! This hat is one of my favorites! I ordered a small and my head circumference is roughly 21-22in. Fit is great, not too tight but just tight enough so it doesn't fall off my head. It is made of wool so tends to be a little warm.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 5'1 and about 115, I ordered size XS. I think the sizing in general has changed with Volcom, I never used to wear XS. However, when I tried on the Small the arm holes were too big and it was not flattering. This is a great dress to wear to work or even for a fun night out on the town. The color is exactly as shown, it is very comfy and has a nice feel on. My favorite thing about this dress is that the buttons on the front have a little volcom logo, I know its silly but I really liked it. Overall, I am very pleased with this dress.

I was really stoked to have a nice hat to sun bathe in but this one was a little more floppy than I was expecting. It also ripped the first time i wore it which was a bummer. I would recommend snagging this hat if you're looking to use it strictly for laying by the water. It is hard to see with it on.

These pants fit very nicely. I am 5'1 about 120 lbs and I have the medium. Just enough room to wiggle in while on the mountain. The only bummer thing is that the waterproofing really didn't last that long. I would say about half a season (3 months or so) which is not very long. I can still rock them but only on spring shredding days.

I did not really like these bindings. They did not hold up very well.
If you are going to be riding 5 days a week I would recommend something else.
The material on the base plates was not well thought, if you are riding in any kind of colder climate the snow sticks and I found myself borrowing a friends ski pole to chip the chunks away. Not fun.

The lack of the quick release on the binding straps is
inconvenient. Definitely makes it harder to get your bindings off.

The ladder on my toe straps also did not hold up well at all.
In no time I found myself having to tighten my toe straps because it would come loose half way down the mountain.
