I love Patagonia and have been impressed with the quality of all of their products - including this fleece. I bought this after spending a few hours reading reviews. I live in the northwest with normal temperatures around 45 degrees during winter. It rains a lot, so I planned on coupling it with my hard-shell.
The good: It's SUPER soft and comfortable. I loved wearing it even inside. I found it to be comfortable from down to around 50 and up to around 65. However, I grew up in San Diego, so take that with a grain of salt.
The bad: Without a shell, even the SLIGHTEST amount of wind pierces right through this jacket. I realize it's a fleece and not made to block wind, but I was expecting close to the same level of wind protection as a regular sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt. Being soft and stretchy, it also would get caught up my shell when trying to take them off.
If you plan on not wearing this in the wind or always having a shell, this is an awesome jacket. It compresses down very small and packs a surprising amount of warmth.
