I have high arches and very narrow feet. It's difficult to find comfortable trail shoes that fit. Some of Salomon's other styles are much too wide for my feet. This style, however, is great!!! I normally wear a US size 7, but I ordered these in a 6.5 and they are perfect. I do a lot of walking on varied surfaces from pavement to fairly maintained trails and these shoes are stable, yet very comfortable straight out of the box. I love the lacing and find it highly adjustable to comfort level. I hope Salomon continues to make this style. It's one of the few I can wear. Love them.

Are these boots suitable for rugged and lengthy day hiking with a light pack? I know they are made for mountaineering and alpine climbing, which I won't be doing much of if any at all. However, I have tried probably 50 different hiking/backpacking boots and nothing fits. My heels and feet are ridiculously narrow and low volume. I read that these boots are a great fit for narrow feet so I ordered a pair. Straight out of the box, I love the fit. But I am concerned they will be too much boot/too warm for long treks. Has anyone worn them just for hiking? If so, how did they do?

First and foremost, I have to emphasize just how difficult it is for me to find adequate footwear of any kind due to the extreme narrowness of my feet and heels. After trying nearly every other brand on the market, I looked for some online advice about outdoor shoes for women with very narrow feet and La Sportiva came up more than once. I am planning to hike Half Dome in Yosemite this August and want an approach shoe for the ascent and descent of Sub Dome and Half Dome. I've tested these on the highest, craggiest, boulder-strewn peaks of the southern Appalachians and I think they fit the bill - not to mention my ridiculously narrow feet. They are grippy, relatively light, and comfortable. I am currently trying to find a hiking boot in this brand as the fit has given me a glimmer of hope. Finally.
