Lisa E's Bio

I can't get enough of time spent outdoors. Salt Lake City is the perfect place for this and thankfully this is where my parents raised me, and I currently live. I love getting out in the Wasatch, skiing, hiking, climbing, or just sitting by a mountain stream. Most of the time, I have one or all three of my kids joining me. I love camping, and backpacking all over the Western US but prefer staying in Utah, either the Uinta Mountains, or Southern Utah Redrock. I am an avid backcountry and alpine skier. I taught skiing at a local mountain for 13 years before moving to a desk job here at Backcountry.com

I love this bra, and own multiple colors. It is perfect for hiking and light activities, such as climbing, and yoga. It breathes well and is a must if you are travelling a lot. It is thin so doesn't offer a ton of discretion, but I still find it to be a good enough stretch that I consider it medium supportive. I wear a M and am a 36 B-C

I love Marmot Gear, and this tent has not disappointed. For summer camping it is great. It is really close to sleeping outside, with the open feel and mesh you can see the whole sky. I initially bought this as a one person, but it fits two very comfortably, and I am not a small person at almost 6 feet. Set up is super easy, first time was in the dark and it took minutes. I am stoked on all the reviews on how bomber it is in a storm. I can't wait to prove that feature for myself. It is well made and super durable. For this being borderline ultra light I found no fragility to it whatsoever.

I love this top. I ordered the citrine, and it is the perfect happy yellow for summer. It is tailored really nicely. The front detail is beautiful and it has a lovely subtle twist thing happening in the back. I love this for hiking and climbing and it is a great active wear piece. I wear it out as well, due to the fact that it really is beautiful on, I get tons of compliments whenever I wear it. I ordered a M and it fits perfectly.

This is an amazing cool summer dress. I purchased it last summer in white and when I saw the blue/black this year, I bought a second one. The tie dye is an actual dye, not like how some companies will print it on, so it looks authentic. The tie in the back is really cute, and the low cut feels great on hot days. I wear this for beach time over my suit and it dresses up easily for a night out. This is my go to weekend wear for light gardening, and evening summer bocce games. It is not a fragile dress either. It has survived many washings, stuffing into packs etc. Everyone needs two. I found the length to be nice. It is high low and also has a shorter side hem.

Love these sunglasses. Super versatile and comfortable enough for all day wear. Although they are not a sport model, I have done a ton of hiking and a little biking in them. No issues with them fogging even on the hard uphills. Like I said comfy, so if you have an all day road trip, perfect choice. I have to say these are fairly durable as well. I tend to beat up sunglasses and these seem to be fairing better than the last few pairs I have owned. Great style, tortoise shell is awesome.

I love the merino/modal fabric. It feels amazing on hot days, I really stay cool. This also does a great job of wicking moisture and I have worn it on tons of intense hikes. It has a nice shoulder so a pack is comfortable. Due to the more delicate fabric I have avoided wearing it backpacking or when carrying a heavy load. The cut is great, loose fitting for hot summer days. It has a lovely cut front V neck, and the sides are cut really low as well. Make sure you are wearing a bra that wants to be seen. Definitely need to wear a bra with this one.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 145 lbs

I own the stretch front pant, and absolutely love them. The fabric is amazing and the cut is great. I wouldn't climb or do any serious outdoor activity in these, or the pants however. I returned these due to the sizing being really off. I wear a 10 in the pants, they fit great. I could not even get the 10 shorts up over my bum. I didn't try the 12 because the 10 was soooo small, I felt there was no chance.

These are great pants, however I would not consider climbing in them, or any serious outdoor activity really. They are good for work and casual hikes. They are comfortable, fit true to size. Honestly they look great on. I have a longer inseam (33.5) and the size 10 is plenty long, and I even roll them up a little with sandals. The fabric is nice and really soft with a little stretch. I would sooner wear these to a dinner party than climbing routes though.

I love these sandals. I purchased the folkstone grey and they are beautiful as well as comfortable. The leather footbed is super comfy, as are all of the straps. They added a really nice elastic into the arch strap which is great for me as I have a higher arch and volume foot right there. I have found these to be very versatile, and although they are a more casual sandal, they look great with dressy dresses as well as pants. Comfortable on long walks and easy trails. There is no tread on the bottom so they can only be used for hiking in an emergency.

I bought two of these one each for my kids in junior high and high school. They love the packs and they can accommodate everything they need. They can go easily from school, to the trails for after school hiking. Personally I would choose a more technical pack for day hikes but they love these. My only wish is that one of the pockets had a key attachment. I suppose this missing is to go along with the retro and simple design.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

One of my customers shared some great information about this stove. I had to pass it along!
Regarding you interest:
Let me know what you think of the Whisperlite Universal, I have been eyeing that one!

Here are my results:
- Weight, burn/boil rates are found online in other reviews.
- Usage: How I use my stoves is because where and when I hike.
I do most of my hiking in the fall and winter here in New Hampshire in the White Mtns. Depending and temps and wind I do cook inside of my tent.
- Conditions I will not tolerate in any stove:
Flair up when lighting
Not being able to position stove on insulating pad while cooking. (stove becomes too hot or directs heat downward to melt pad.)

That being said, here are my suggestions for the MSR whisperlite universal: Results based on use of MSR 11oz. fuel bottle.
Before using the whisperlite for the first time, I took everything apart per instruction manual and and lubed with a synthetic oil. Also put a drop of oil on all threads and fuel probe. Installed white gas nipple and fuel adapter.

Lighting/priming:
I use alcohol to prime all my gas/kerosene stoves. I carry a plastic squirt bottle. size and amount depends on duration of outing.
- No difference in fuel weight since I am saving the stove fuel lost in priming. Plastic bottle weight is minor.

1) If fuel bottle is not filled, fill to recommended line and reinsert pump.
2) Pump bottle three times only. Actually two will do once you get use to this method.
3) Connect fuel bottle to stove.
4) Place stove over flat round aluminum heat reflector, or you will burn whatever the stove is place on. Use foil wind/reflector and place to block wind if necessary. Use will direct more heat to stove and pan.
5) Fill priming cup and squirt alcohol around burner head.
6) Light. Alcohol is almost invisible in anything but dark shade. Watch liquid level in priming cup.
7) When priming cup is empty turn valve on pump all the way open. Listen for vaporized gas hiss, light with match. NO Flareup, NO soot. stove is now on low, great for anything but boiling.
8) Pump up as necessary to boil.

To go from boiling to simmer:
1) If stove not at high pressure, pump it up.
2) Make sure valve is open all the way.
3) Flip fuel bottle over, extend valve handle to act as a support.
4) Stove will flame out shortly. It will take longer and sometimes not work at all if pressure was too low before flipping.
5) Listen or count to 5.
6) Flip fuel bottle and pump back to run position and relight stove. You may need to pump it once or twice. You are now at low simmer. Using valve, adjust flame as low as possible before it turns to yellow flame.

To extinguish:
1) Pump up stove to high.
2) Valve all the way open.
3) Flip fuel bottle over using valve handle as support leg.
4) Stove will flare out shortly.
5) Close valve with fuel bottle still flipped over.
6) Detach stove from fuel bottle with no fuel drippings.

Overall Impressions:

The MSR Whisperlite Universal stove works great on canister fuel. One of the best simmers I have experienced, (oil screw threads before attaching first canister on new stove). Getting it to run well on white gas/Coleman fuel for my demands took a little experimentation, kerosene is another matter which I haven't pursued and probably won't, unless I can't get white gas/Coleman fuel.

Conclusions:
The MSR Whisperlite Universal stove does fit my requirements for an all around stove. I'm not comparing the MSR to other stoves, I am only seeing if it will fit my personal requirements for an outback stove.

Great Hiking Top!

Wearing it with a contrasting bra top, not the white one that was included. This is a great tank for hiking. I love the muscle style for carrying a pack but it still looks feminine enough due to the open side and back. The loose fit is perfect for really hot days. It has held up really well to quite a bit of abuse with carrying a heavy pack and some hiking through brush. Surprisingly the white washes up really well.

These are a great summer casual and hiking pant. The linen/cotton blend fabric is loose fitting, soft and keeps you cool and protected on hot days. The pockets are large, but well tailored so they don't add any bulkiness to the appearance. They have an awesome draw cord at the hem which allows you to pull them up calf or even above the knee if you are encountering water crossing, wet grass etc. I love the fold over waistband. It is really comfortable and looks nice. Warning about washing: be sure to tie the draw cord, as I had to crochet hook mine back in after finding it separated in the wash. I get tons of compliments on these. Like the other reviewer mentioned they are not intended for rugged use. Perfect for hiking on open trails where you don't encounter a lot of brush, travelling and backpacking.

This is my second Eco Vessel, and I absolutely love it. The tea/ice/fruit strainer is very high quality and keeps your water running clean. There are two screw top openings of different sizes which is convenient for driving or if you need to chug fast. It seems to live up to the claim of 36 hours cold and 8 hot. The loop handle is really well made as well.

I am a huge fan of the reverso. It is really easy to use and accommodates a large range of rope widths, even my fairly wide 10.1
I regularly climb with my three teenage kids and have enough confidence in this piece of gear to have them belay me. Because it is so basic it gives users a solid understanding of what is happening as well as creates accountability. For this reason I choose this over my Grigri when climbing with my kids or anyone that is learning.

This is one of my favorite hoodies. It works well as a semi active piece like cool weather hiking, but also looks great over a dress for a night out. I have had mine for a couple of years and wear it all the time. It has held up amazingly well and been washed dozens of times.
The hood: perfect site nice and large! it also has a really nice but discreet elastic drawstring that comes in really handy if you find yourself out in the wind or running from wildlife.
Pockets: It has two oversized perfect for frozen hands. Both are a snap closure but the snaps are in a very well thought out space so your larger items(cell phone, keys) are pretty secure.
Length: It will cover your bum.

I purchased this shoe as someone new to running. I was initially impressed with the comfort as well as how smooth my running rhythm was. I am one year in now and have tried a few other shoes to compare. The Dynamic Offset Technology Pearl uses actually works. Basically the "drop" changes from ball to toe of the foot keeping you moving forward. It really is a much more fluid feel than other shoes that I have tried. I really like the mesh upper and find it to conform and support my whole foot really well.
