Lisa Edlund's Bio

I can't get enough of time spent outdoors. Salt Lake City is the perfect place for this and thankfully this is where my parents raised me, and I currently live. I love getting out in the Wasatch, skiing, hiking, climbing, or just sitting by a mountain stream. Most of the time, I have one or all three of my kids joining me. I love camping, and backpacking all over the Western US but prefer staying in Utah, either the Uinta Mountains, or Southern Utah Redrock. I am an avid backcountry and alpine skier. I taught skiing at a local mountain for 13 years before moving to a desk job here at Backcountry.com

I love my BD Boundaries. They are light yet really stable at high speeds. I purchased these for an AT setup specifically for use on deeper snow days and skiing variable terrain in Colorado. They handle pow, cut through crud and are powerful enough to cut through ice crusts as well.

The Kenjas are a sweet way for me to enjoy the groomed and off piste terrain here in Utah. They are really fun carving up the corduroy and handle bumps as well as a light powder dump as well. I am an advanced skier and these are my go to for soft groomer days or just having fun.

These things are awesome. Highly durable and packed with features. I use the 10 L at basecamp. The webbing makes it really easy to carry as well as hang in a tree or elsewhere for easy access. I love the 2L for freezing and keeping in my cooler for ice cold water as well as making things cold. The laminated cordura material is nearly indestructible.

These are awesome for hiking and backpacking. They offer ample support and are really comfortable out of the box. I found them to run true to size. I love the dual lacing zone. You can tighten the lower and upper independently of each other thanks to a gripping eyelets mid way. Love the soft full leather outer and nice padding around the ankle.

This shirt is a loose fit but still has a feminine fit that looks great on. The material is light and soft and feels amazing. I have found it to be super versatile and it worked great hiking, a game of tennis and sleeping in... so far. Washes and dries well. Awesome for travel as it doesn't seem to get wrinkles after spending time in my duffel.

I was so stoked when Jetboil came out with a stove that would simmer. I have been a fan of the original model for making coffee at basecamp and for backpacking meals. I do prefer cooking real food when in the backcountry and so far have been impressed with the simmer capabilities. I have been able to saute a few vegis and tomatoes for a quick sauce over some quick cook rice. Looking forward to more meals to come!

This is a nice mid sized day pack. It has ample room for a days worth of gear on a summer hike. The fit is nice and can acommodate a shorter torso comfortabley. The back panel stays very cool on a hot day. I like the hip belt pockets, especially the stretch mesh one as it holds snugly a small camera or large phone but allows for easy access.

These are some great panties. This is my sole underwear for travel. They are no show under almost anything. They pack tiny. Easy to wash and super fast to dry. The black color came in handy when I forgot my swim bottoms on a recent hot springs trip.

Nothing beats the feel of cotton for relaxing or hiking around. I purchased these for my 16 year old son. He loves them and wears them to school and after school hikes. They are not necessarily a super technical hike short but if you are in the hot desert with no chance of rain these work great. Easy to wash and don't shrink in the dryer. Huge pockets are nice. Definitely durable enough for climbing or anything else.

I love these shoes. I find the narrower webbing to be really comfortable and also nice looking. These are an essential for travel because they are so versatile. Great traction for wading across rivers, works well for day hiking even on technical terrain. The best part is they also look nice just in case you go out after your adventure. All the fun colors made it really easy to find a pair for myself as well as my two teenage daughters(14,19) They love them!
I prefer this style that does not incorporate a big toe strap. Reason being that it is more comfortable and also if you are taking them backpacking or somewhere that it may get cold you can always layer with a pair of socks(not the most fashionable!) My girls wear 8 and the 8 fits perfect. I wear 8.5-9 and the 9 fits great.

I think safety wise, having a bell is a necessity. This is perfect for alerting others on blind corners or anywhere else you need your presence known. The video is very helpful for installation. I have to agree with others that the sound is lovely and the design is very aesthetically pleasing!

This is the perfect jacket for travel or throwing in your day pack when there is a chance of rain. The minimal features are just right. The hood is an ample size, and has a draw cord which is a nice feature. It stuffs very easily into the internal pocket. There is also a bottom cinch if you are in some real wind!
