Leanne's Bio

A once half decent age group triathlete, level one triathlon coach, snowboard instructor and swimming coach, a wee little snow accident saw a good ol' knee reconstruction and a you-don't-know-me warning from my surgeon that I probably wouldn't run again. Since then I've completed an Ironman and am training for my next, am running and racing across trails near and far and while my first attempt at the 100k failed in a haze of stomach-emptying and strange hallucinations of monkeys in trees, I'm preparing for my next go in five months time.

I've got the office out running trails and marathons, have a handy group of road and mountain bikers to keep my rides social and am always on the lookout for my next outdoor challenge!

Oh, and all the while I'm raising money for JDRF, helping them on their journey to finding a cure for juvenile or type-1 diabetes.

See you on the trails!

I simply cannot fault these socks! Some ultra runners suggested I try them for Ironman Cozumel last year and despite soaking feet I came out with zero blisters and all of my toenails in place. Since then I've been clocking up up the k's for century runs and they just keep on trucking! I especially like the light compression this style provides. I can't put my finger on why except to say they just feel really, really awesome! In a nutshell, buy them. You will not be disappointed!

Man do I love this jacket! I was pretty peeved that I had to buy a breathable, waterproof, windproof jacket as mandatory equipment for a 100k trail running race. But as soon as it arrived I was in love! I have a bunch of jackets for cycling and previously used these when the weather turned feral on my runs, but never again! This jacket ticks all the boxes, it's light, warm but not overly toasty (stick a fleece and a thermal underneath when the weather really turns bad and you won't feel a thing) and the colour (I got baja blue) is a nice bit of bright on a ho-hum grey day. It's also a great length, keeping everything up top nice and dry and comfortable - mandatory when chest infections are your arch nemesis! I wear it running. I wear it to work (I'm a press photographer). I wear it around town. Heck, I wore it to bed in our motor home when our recent overnight highway stop got below zero! I've always had a bit of a crush on North Face gear, and this jacket just keeps the love alive!

OK, I admit I was a bit skeptical about the claims, but after wearing these pants for the first time over a 100km race I am hooked! I love them! Years of beating my body up means my calves and hips aren't always the most willing participants and I find myself covered in strapping tape at races, hoping to keep everything tracking the way nature intended. I've even resorted to sticking ice in my race suits to keep inflammation at bay! Brrrr!! But since donning these pants neither ice nor tape has been required, and I've lined up, competed and completed as a glistening picture of (burger eating) sweat soaked, tape-free fitness! Plus, as an added bonus, they hold in the wobbly bits just nicely!

I love these pants and will soon claim the entire range with the short and long versions finding a home in my closet!

I don't know about odorless and skipping washes (but hey, maybe that's me!!), but this sure is a soft and comfy top. A big fan of Nike QuickDry shirts (also on the stinky side after I workout in them!!), I was looking for a slightly warmer base layer for a chilly morning at Sydney's North Face 100 and this top delivered. It didn't feel itchy or wool-like and gave me just the right amount of warmth. While I still run in this shirt, I now also wear it under sweaters to work on cooler days - it's kind of like my super hero secret under my work-appropriate attire!
