Laurel Nelson's Bio

I grew up all over the place, but moving to the Canadian Rockies for high school changed everything. I moved out to Utah seven years ago for school at the University of Utah and after graduating summer of 2011 I started working at Backcountry.com. Snowboarding and whitewater are definitely my passions but I also enjoy biking, hiking, backpacking, and basically anything else active in the mountains.

When we got the Epic Bars in stock we were all a little skeptical to start. I have only tried the Lamb flavor and it is pretty awesome. They are so much tastier than beef jerky and you definitely get the currant and lamb flavor. I am a fan of this flavor, not sure about the others but I will give them a try.

I needed a pair of sweatpants to wear under my waders in the winter and ending up getting these. There are two kinds of sweatpants really, the kind with a fleecy inside that ends up pilling and French terry like this. These are awesome. The flatlock stitching is great, pockets are well made, nice thick elastic on the waist, and a high quality drawstring. While I wear these fishing, I have also ended up wearing them every day when getting ready for work. Awesome sweatpants.

I have had the Airblaster My Brothers Pant for the last few seasons and it was time to get a new pair due to wear and tear. In the My Brothers Pant from previous seasons I wore an XL and in these I ended up sizing down to a L as they run a little larger than my other ones do. I am 5'9" 150lb and typically wear a 28 or 29 or size L in pants and the L fit great. The Dinoflauge is a really cool print and they have held up nicely so far.

I needed a pair of nicer fall/winter shoes to wear around town when I didn't feel like breaking out the Sorels and these are perfect. They look nicer than most winter boots but still keep you warm and cozy. The workmanship on the wool and leather seem very high quality and I expect these to last me for years to come. The leather footbed and flannel lined interior are also a very nice touches.

I have worn this jacket all season thus far and I love it. Like the previous reviewer said, this jacket does have long arms and a wider hips but that is perfect for me! I am 5'9" 150lbs with a curvier build. It is so difficult to find jackets that are long enough in the body and sleeves, slim in the waist, and with enough room in the hips and this one is great. I got the size L and it fits perfectly. There is a little insulation but not too much to where you overheat on sunny days. Durable face fabric, cute styling, and awesome features.

This thing is great! Miika is about 60lbs and the Large fits her perfectly. She has a wider rib cage so definitely go off a girth measurement and not just weight. While she is a strong swimmer, this helps keep her above water when we go SUP at the lake and it is awesome to have the added flotation in moving water. It is really adjustable and doesn't seem to move around after a day of frolicking.

This thing is great. It really is right around 20 lbs. and I can easily transport it by myself. It doesn't take too much work to get it inflated and it is fairly stable with myself (~155lbs) and my dog (~60lbs). It tracks fairly well and I didn't have too much difficulty paddling against some strong wind.
