Kyle's Bio

Wanderer & Adventurer. I've spent most of my life in the Adirondacks of Upstate NY, but relocated to Tacoma, WA in 2010. I'm always down for an outdoor adventure. Hiking & backpacking are my go to activities, but I enjoy snowboarding, climbing, paddling, and pretty much anything else you can do in the great outdoors.

I had one of these water bottles in a smaller size and loved it. The bottle itself is very lightweight. The loop in the cap is good if you want to add a caribiner or some other method of retention.

Sometimes, even with Nalgene bottles, you can tell the water has been sitting in a jug all day. That is not the case with this bottle. The water you pour out tastes just like it did before you poured it in. Also, if you fill it with cold water, the water actually stays cold for quite a while.

There are two reasons I gave this bottle 4 stars. First, it tends to sweat a lot. This didn't bother me too much, but I would still consider it a negative. Second, although it is durable, it does dent easily. I have dropped mine while sitting on a bench and it dented. To me, this just adds character, but to others this may be a deal breaker.

It would depend on how full you have it packed. I flew with mine recently and had it packed with my 15" MacBook, a couple changes of clothes, a pair of sneakers, a few books, a couple notebooks, toiletries, a water bottle, and a few other small items. I had to put it in the overhead compartment because it did not fit under the seat, but they did let me take it as a carry on.

I think you will be happy with this pack both as a travel bag and a backpacking bag. The different pockets make it easy to stay organized while traveling. When backpacking, I am able to fit everything I need for multi day trips including a tent and bear can. I have an older model (2008 maybe), and the 2012 model looks even better.

The recommended use for these green insoles includes hiking, but the description says they are for feet with medium to high arches. The yellow insoles say they are best for low to medium arches, but the recommended use says skates, cycling shoes, etc. I have flat feet, but I need insoles for my hiking boots. Which ones should I get?

This hat is so comfortable. The micro fleece on the inside is soft and keeps your head cozy. It looks great too. I had the brown and orange version (Raven?). The hat was stolen, but I would definitely buy another if it were available in the brown and orange.
