Being half price I jumped on this backpack and it has been great so far. I use it daily on my bike ride to and from work. All the different pockets are nice for organizing and keeping things separate. My previous backpack had one large area so all my stuff would get mixed together. With this one I can keep things separate and find things easily. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the chest buckle will hold it securely to your body. I've used it in light rain just a few times and it was rain repellant though I'm not sure how it will fair in a downpour. This will be great for going on the plane as a carry on bag with easy access to my iPhone, Nintendo DS, headphones....etc. Another nice Marmot product in my opinion.
Nice tough self inflating sleep pad. I didn't test it out on sharp rocks and sticks but you can tell it's well made and durable. I got the small size for backpacking since it's the most lightweight Toughskin. It's not the lightest pad out there but it's comfortable and will be great for cold weather. I wish I had this when I was younger for the "High Adventure" trips to Philmont and Boundary Waters Minnesota/Canada. If weight is no concern, get the larger size. I don't mind the small with the padding under my body with none at my legs. When used with my cot, it's as good as my bed at home, only smaller.
I needed a sleeping bag for the summer when it's warm. This works perfectly for me. It's good for nights when you fall asleep on top of it or with it unzipped then when you wake up in the middle of the night you can zip it up and not get all sweaty. The 2 way zipper works well for letting your legs stick out to cool off. This also comes with a stuff/compression sack. It will compress tiny, perfect for warm weather backpacking. I will also use this as a liner or 2nd layer for a winter camping bag. It also looks cool and the gray color is nice.
