Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought these for some mixed gravel grinding and xc riding on the fully rigid 29er. I love the tread pattern. Very smooth rolling and yet great traction all around. Clears mud quite nicely too compared to many fast rolling treads. Problem is the casing is rather weak. First ride, on gravel roads, I pinch flatted twice (I haven't pinch flatted in about a decade). Tires were run at about 55 psi and I only weigh 160. I also got a sidewall cut on one tire, a separate incident from the pinch flat. Tires are narrower than a 2.0 size. If they'd make these things more robust and keep the treat pattern they'd be super winners. The pinch flats and cut occurred on gravel roads. Not even bashing around on the singletrack. Granted, they were rocks roads but still. Haven't had any similar incidents with the many other tires I've used.
Had to put a boot in the tire with a sidewall cut. Still using them but carry lots of repair materials and a few tubes to get me home. Still love the tread but always have flatting/puncturing in the back of my mind.

Still the best skins I've used. The grip is better than G3, K2 or the other models of BD skins that I've tried. Definitely durable, my only need to buy more is to fit new skis. I notice I grip on the uphill versus my companions using other brands of skins. My own experiences match what I've observed. The lighter weight BD skins (mohair/mix) also seem to get more snow build up in adverse conditions than these all nylon model.
Do note that if you want to easily trim these to your ski forget about the included BD trimmer (just a blade cutter) and get a G3 trimming tool. Makes the process much easier and cleaner.

A great tool to get the perfect trim on a pair of skis. Super easy to use and leaves the proper amount of edge exposed. No wasting time with BD's templates and silly blade. Just put the skin on the ski and trim.
