Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I discovered Platypus bottles about five years ago and use them daily whether backpacking, traveling by bus or by air, at the office, and at home. I must have every size available including the ones designed to keep wine fresh. I keep them filled with water and store them in the fridge so that I always have access to cold water. One is always on my night table. I keep them in my compact refrigerator beneath my desk at work. I must have given approximately 50 as gifts and everyone loves them. I have not had one fail to date; however, the Nalgene Canteen I used at work to store water for coffee and tea began to leak. What can I say--I love Platypus products and can't live without them. I travel to Oaxaca, Mexico for a month's vacation every summer and am able to carry all of the water I'll need on my 24 hour bus ride in these bottles and as the water is consumed, they don't take up any space. For those who are ecologically responsible or conscious, this is the way to go. When in Mexico, I always carry a couple wherever I go. I travel by bus because my folding bike, etc. and everything I carry for my apartment while in Mexico would cost me a fortune by air. As long as I have my Bose noise canceling earphones, IPOD and Apple Air, and Platypus bottles, I can relax and enjoy the transition into the magical world of southern Mexico. Platypus makes it possible!

Take some advise from someone who just turned 66 and doesn't own a car. When you are young, you are more interested in looks than comfort--forget it! After a lifetime of wearing narrow shoes, in your mature years, you will, by necessity, be more interested in comfort and the Keen shoes with wide toe boxes are essential. Avoid future problems and use wider shoes--you won't regret it! Keens are probably the most (only) comfotable shoes I have found for my wide feet. Do yourself a favor and buy them.

Last year, I purchased two of these Patagonia totes and yesterday, I ordered my third! I travel to Oaxaca, Mexico twice a year and detest how airlines take advantage of travelers by charging for what they consider excess baggage. With these totes, which fold into almost nothing, you can circumvent airline greed and actually pay for your totes by avoiding excess baggage charges by taking out one of your totes and stuffing it with heavy gear you can carry on. The airlines are shocked when I reduce the weight of the checked bags by using the Patagonia Travel Tote. In Oaxaca, I always carry one in my daypack and when I go to the market or bakery on my Downtube Folding Bike, which I also take with me, I take out my Tote, fill it up, and use it as a backpack. In my opinion, this is the perfect tote and I always have one handy at the university where I work. Get one--this is an item you simply can't do without.
