Joey Brocke's Bio

I am a born and raised calgary boy, just an hour from the Aberta rocky resorts so I grew up with a par of sticks on my feet. I can still remember my first "full season" when I was 10, my family got a seasons pass to the hill in my city (Canada Olympic Park). While it was small it was all I needed to get caught with the bug, My dad would take me at least 3 nights a week for the night skiing and I would go to school the next morning SO tired but SO happy. I have had some low activity seasons in the last little while but that has been changing recently, Im getting out more and getting my confidence back. I wouldn't put myself in the "expert" group, but I am a solid Advanced skier and moving up.

4 5

This ski is phenomenal on pow days. big and surfy and very stable as well. The only reason that I gave them 4 rather than 5 stars is that I dont like them in chop and crud, they can handle it but they are a little soft and start to bounce around more than I like. If you are spending a day in the side country these are a clutch pair, at the resort bring a second pair just in case its a little firm.

If I could give 4.5/5 I would.

I have the 08-09 with the Caya Koopman graphic and even without the slight rocker that they have added they are EASILY one of the best I have even skied. They surf beautifully in the pow and are still fast edge to edge on the hard pack. I would love to try them with the rocker and see how they feel. but at the very least this years and built on a VERY strong foundation.

nice bag, has some issues

I had this bag with the avalung built in - Overall it was decent.

I did not like two things:
1. the bag is a little short so when I put my avalanche probe in the bag it almost didnt zip closed - check the length of the bag vs. your folded probe before buying this one.
2. While hiking up the mountain with my skis mounted diagonally through the pull cord it was hard to get the cord to hold them stable as it loosened off very easily. AND THEN it just snapped - so if you are planning to boot=pack anywhere I would suggest that you get a bag with a webbing strap rather than a little wire pull cord.

but the actual bag was comfortable - good back plate and padding, straps and waist harnesses all felt good.

attached is a photo of the bag at work in the French alps :)

These gloves are great! nice fit, not bulky and quite warm! the herringbone pattern also makes my knees weak. very good all round glove with an amazing classy pattern. The only knock I would say is the insulation only holds up to about -15 to -20 (celsius) = -4 F. after that I would bulk up to a good mitt.
