My gear is almost exclusively Stohlquist, (X-tract PFD,Free Ryde top, Mooners II pants, Caveman boots)and I have had no complaints, to the contrary, I have been exceedingly pleased with their performance. So when I saw a whitewater PFD for under 80 bucks delivered, I jumped on it. As with all safety gear, I hope to never need it. If I do however, I feel better with a proven performer having my life in their hands.

First, let me say this. Backcountry labels the textured black as "carbon black". They label the carbon black as "carbon deluxe". Item you will receive is true to the images, but not consistant with the labeling of the manufacturer. Don't expect the real carbon/kevlar helmet if you order it.
That being said....My 14 year old daughter wanted to get into the sport of whitewater. I could have gotten a cheaper helmet,(around 35 bucks for the NRS Havoc at a competitor) but it had no face protection. We spent 3 grand getting her pearly whites straight. Even at triple the price, this was a no-brainer. YOU CAN'T PUT A PRICE ON SAFETY!!
We live in West Virginia , and have some of the best whitewater in the country. While this conjures up mental images of toothless moonshiners,we have all of our teeth and want to keep it that way!
This is excellent protection at a fair price. Highly recommended , and a must for creekers.
