Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I can't tell you how well this jacket blocks out Gail force winds while hiking through the Appalachian. But I can tell you as a busy soccer mom, this is my go to. It is lightweight, yet water resistant and warm. The quality can't be beat. My only criticism is the fit. It is a very slim athletic fit, which didn't allow for much breathing room. I ordered up a size. I am 5' 9", 150 pounds and normally wear a Medium.

You can't beat the price on these boy's jackets. I bought one for each of my sons. We live in Minnesota, and they've been wearing them as soon as we could ditch the heavy winter jackets. Perfect for early Spring/Fall weather, as well as cool summer nights.

Size wise, I'd order up a size. My five year old wears the size 8. And my 7 year old is wearing a 10-12.

What's not to like about this jacket? It's warm (I live in MN and can wear it on 20 degree days). It's stylish. It's a great price for being The North Face.

And Backcountry is awesome. Their service can't be beat - you can exchange anything anytime. (I've emailed questions on a Sunday, and they've responded right away!)
