Jack L's Bio

Being an extremely active outdoor enthusiast since I was very young, I have been privileged to enjoy experiences with many types of outdoor activities and the associated gear. I enjoy: hiking, cycling mountain climbing, canyoneering, fly fishing, running, skiing and traveling. I am a Certified Lead Climbing Instructor - Boy Scouts of America and am presently completing ACA Canyon Leader Training. I've organized extended unsupported cycling trips; lead multiple groups of friends, youth groups and family on various excursions to Zion National Park, Moab, UT, Escalante UT, Wyoming, and Montana; Canyon Leader for multiple BSA group outings; organized numerous backpacking trips for adults and youth. Have competed and finished the Deseret News Marathon, Payson Marathon, and Heber Valley-1/2 Ironman Triathlon.

Travel experience includes extensive travel in North America, Japan, Australia, Europe, Central America and Canada.

With my varied experiences I have learned the significance of the right gear and the need for that gear to be of high quality. Sharing that experience and background with others, helping them find the right solution to their gear needs is extremely enjoyable - almost as enjoyable as doing the activity, almost.

I gave these as a gift here is what he had to say: "I love these pants. They fit perfectly and are super comfortable. I've now had several pairs of these in different colors and they are great. They are slim cut but not too tight. Great for any use you can think of from business casual to lounging around a campfire. "

For the price this bag is a real value. I've used multiple times in zero degree F temps and found it very true to rating. It is well designed and detailed for what you would expect of a zero degree bag. It doesn't have a full length zipper and the slider is a bit small to grasp. Draft collar and draw cord and other aspects work well.
The added feature of "Dridown" makes this bag a good insurance against a cold night at zero degrees.

Tried a lot of protein powders over the years and feel more comfortable with this product than any others I've tried. The quality that is noted and attention to non-GMO, and gluten free adds a great deal of confidence to the integrity.
Along with tech aspects, the taste is great -from a protein stand point, haven't tasted much better.
I've had no issues with digestion and has been a great breakfast add on after a morning work out for revitalizing the system and reducing hunger through the morning.

While out on the river all day fly fishing, I had an opportunity to use the Lifestraw for a water source. Being amazingly light, it was hardly noticeable to carry. It worked amazingly well and with a such simplicity, I would recommend it be in every fishing bag. It will be a great resource when the day on the river is long and hot. And, it's a fantastic alternative to sipping right out of the river and risking issues associated with Giardia.
I see it also as a great backup for when other systems malfunction or get clogged.

Received this shoe approximately 3 weeks ago and have ran in it consistently during that time- 5-6 days each week. Was amazingly surprised at the comfort and the aspect of return energy. No sore knees or shin splints in the trial period and found the rebound or return energy aspect is real and significant. Thinking that I was just imagining the rebound effect, I put on my Aesics Gel Nimbus immediately after running in my Adidas and realized it is real! The Aesics just didn't provide the extra "Spring" that I was feeling in the Adidas. The Adidas padding isn't gooshy or too soft, but stable and provides and sufficient cushioning to avoid injury.
Lateral and heel cup support of the shoe is quite good as well.
Only challenge for me and those with a wider foot, would be that the shoe seems to be more oriented towards a medium/narrower width foot.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used it on a couple of flights and it easily fits my skis, my poles, my boots and all of my ski clothes. The ski clothes add a nice padding for the skis but be careful not to let the edges of the skis tear your clothes. Great bag and seems very durable. The ski boot pockets are a great addition.

This headlamp does everything it says it does! It is extremely bright and the battery life is incredible! You can not beat the rechargeable aspect of this light. I've already saved a ton of money on batteries and feel a whole lot better about not having to throw away so many batteries!

These things come in serious handy for so many things! They are durable and sturdy. I use them for my bikes on my bike rack so that the bikes aren't banging around and it works great. They are quick and easy to get around most anything!
