Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small

After 3 months, I switched to a Marmot Quasar. The Plasma's quilting doesn't keep the down evenly distributed, and I'll eat 3oz for even warmth (and more of it) and insulated pockets (which means integrated stuff sack too).

Can't beat the Plasma for packed size, though.

And as for sizing, I usually wear a small, but a medium in this.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size

Got this to replace my Montbell Plasma 1000, whose quilting doesn't keep the down distributed well.

Pros: The Quasar's construction is more solid. It's warmer overall (and more evenly). It has warm pockets, a better collar, and a drawcord hem. It stuffs into its own pocket.

Cons: Weighs a few extra ounces (worth it, no doubt). Takes up 75% more space when stuffed, which is still tiny, but a consideration if you're hardcore ultralight.

I vastly prefer the Quasar over the Plasma.

Grandma arm sleeves

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Unless every day is bicep day, the arms on this are going to look & feel ridiculous. The torso fit is slim/athletic, but the arms are loose. I can now relate to a flabby-armed geriatric, and though the photo may not look terrible, my brother instantly started laughing when I walked over to show him. The fit on the LS Icebreaker Tech T is a little looser around the torso, but still athletic, and the arms are proportional. Preferred Icebreaker to the fit of the NTS Smartwool too.

These look FANTASTIC. Could not be happier with them on that front, as trail shoes often look pretty geeky. Keeps feet dry, and when I got water inside the top the moisture left quickly. Very bad grip on concrete or asphalt -- if you're an urban outdoorsman, pick something else.
