israel's Bio

I am a Utah Native. I have been a river guide in Moab, Utah for 9 years. I have also ran rivers around the Western US, Canada, Alaska, NZ, and Chile. I lived and worked at Alta for 2 seasons. When I am not on the water you can find me riding the slickrock trails or Moab, or Canyoneering in the slot canyons of southern utah, and skiing the backcountry in the winter.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Mega Light is quick and easy to set up and makes a great shelter if you sleep on an 18' raft, J-Rig. It fits perfectly on an 18' raft all you have to do is clip the corners to the D-rings and set the pole on top of a rocket box and you have a solid shelter for when those mid summer monsoons hit in the middle of the night.

I have never had it leak on me, and have used it for backpacking and rafting in southeast AK, Canada, and boating on the Colorado River.

I bought this replacement pump for my whisperlite. The pump worked great I didn't have any problems with it.

The filter works ok, it filters about a liter a minute. Comparing this with a MSR sweetwater filter, the sweetwater was faster and the water came out cleaner. This is a great passive filter, you just fill it with water and walk away. Make sure it does freeze.

I usually take this filter as my primary filter on backpacking trips, and as a backup for expeditionary trips. It is a good filter, small, compact, light. I have never had to use it as a backup filter thankfully. If you do have to filter silty water like with desert or glacial rivers. I would let the water settle out over night and treat the water with alum and clean the filter out after 1/4 nalgene. It does take a while to fill a Nalgene as well. For solo trips where clear water streams are plentiful. It works great. You do have to replace the purification drops annually.

Fit: True to size

I bought a pair of these for trail running, rafting, canyoneering, etc. They had a good fit to them, they fit true to size. I have not had a seam blow out yet which is good. The one drawback about these shorts are the pockets. I do recommend them for warm or wet outdoor activities.

Fit: Runs small

I bought these shoes to train for a trail running race. The first thing I noticed as I tried them on is that they run a bit small, I usually wear a size 43 but had to get a size 44 in these shoes. They are very grippy, stable and great for the technical runs they also breathe well. I will up date this review as I get more miles on them..
