I've had these shoes for over 4 months and I've used them for steep approaches on granite, lime and sand stone about every other weekend; for light hiking, scrambling and trail running (in mud and snow), and they do not disappoint. They are light and comfortable while providing the right protection for your toes when stabbing thru rocks on a hike/climb. I wear them walking around town on snowy wet days and they keep my feet nice and dry all the time. These shoes are amazing. My only complaint about them is that they run a little small. I wear a 7-8 street shoe depending on the brand and activity. I wear a 7.5 on Asics running shoes, 7 on Lowa Renegade/Hiking Boots and 6.5 Five Ten Anasazi LV Climbing Shoes. My feet are really narrow with long toes and high arches and I bought the Firetail in a size 7 thinking that my hiking shoe size will be the same size as my approach and I regret not going bigger in these. A 7.5 would have given my feet some wiggle room or might even be more comfortable for thicker socks, not that the 7 is uncomfortable-- what I'm saying is that, more space for my toes would have been even better. Overall, I am very happy with these shoes. It is a purchase I would gladly make again. Salewa Firetails are amazing shoes and I recommend them to anyone out there that's on the market for a nice, reliable and well made hiking/approach shoe brand.
