I got this jacket for sno shoeing in the cascades. I wanted something different from my normal shell I wear and I wanted it to be a little warmer but not insulated. The soft goretex is really smooth feeling, almost makes you not want to take out into the wilderness it's so nice and soft. The construction is great, my particular jacket was made in Vietnam. The soft goretex does seem to hold heat a little better than a regular goretex shell which was my goal. Because it is a relaxed fit designed for snow boarders, I have to wear a medium when I normally wear a large.... I'm 73 inches 175 pounds. It claims there is a Recco device on it, but I can't find it.

Arcteryx website says has lace hook on pant bottoms, this is false. Also wore them as shell pants for Mt saint Helens summit dec 18, 2011 and on way down did some sliding on my bottom and the pants are already faded. This is not the first issue or disappointment with arcteryx products lately. Only thing I can say is the soft goretex seems to hold heat A little better than regular goretex. I'm 73 inches tall, 175 pounds and large fits perfect.

Climbed mount saint Helens dec 18, 2011. This is the garment I wore as a mid layer. Way to hot for me. Had to just use as an out layer. Wicked moisture really well and pushed to the outside of garment. Once cleared wood line had to change to different mid layer all together, but only because I'm particular and sweat way to much. Since then just wear garment out and about around town. I'm 6'1" 175 and large fits perfect.
