heavier, bigger, liner softer vs Ion
3 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just received these boots in 30 cm and compared them to Burton Ion 2012/13 in size 12 (equivalent to 30 cm)
Weight: Deeluxe is 2630 g, Ion is 1970 g.
Footprint: Deeluxe about 1 inch bigger, see foto.
Liner: almost the same footprint, looks much softer (even compared with Ion ridden for 60 days), with way thicker upper part, and nothing like Rad Pads to prevent compacting the tong.

I will update the review after riding the boot.

Would be great if build properly
2 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A very nice stiff boot, with right mixture of comfort and stiffnes. However, after just 50 riding days or so (which in my case took more then a year, so no warranty), the pirelli protector just went off on both foots..... see pictures. Also got really soft, with toe part completely packed.
I believe that for this price range more then 50 days of riding is expected...

(used with Union force and Burton Cartel)

Really disappointed with build quality =(

Very nice addition to the camera, BUT the battery life is really short. While I can change the battery of my camera on the go and shoot during the whole day if needed, no chance of charging your Remote on the slopes. A considerable drawback for otherwise nice device.

The switch for the ratchet is smooth and it is not easy to hit the right position with the first try.

Also, when the screw is already loose you can neither use the rathchet (it is normal) nor reach the ratchet itself with fingers (which is uncomfortable).

Other devices, like Burton Bullet are much better in this sence.

Finally, I cannot imagine why would you need so many different drivers setuping your snowboard?

tail design flaws, no warranty
1 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Right out of the packaging I found the tail aluminum insert already disbonded. Issue very similar to one experienced by Daniel Ochoa in other review. Seems to be a design flaw!

The Jones snowboard does not provide you with anything that could be actually called a "Manufacturer Warranty". If you give/sell your two days (month, whatever) old board to a friend of yours he will have neither BC "guaranteed return", nor the Jones' warranty. Absolutely outrageous!!!

The board rides interesting, but I have no wish to give any detailed review provided such a "very nice" customer service of the Jones.

cosmetic issues before being used
3 5

I didn't use the bindings yet, so I will keep the review updated. But even before being installed on the board they have already two cosmetic issues - the paint which partial got off just being in the box, and the union onlay which just fell off....

Hope that the riding quality will not be similar to this.

comfortabe, but toe collapsed and crease
3 5

Very comfortable boots, reliable and really speed lace system, warm (when not wet, see below) and responsive (when now broken).

Two quite important issues (and their consequences) force me to put 3 stars and think of putting 2....

1. on the first week of ride the structure of the outer boot got creased at the toe area, see the picture. It happened both to mine Imperials, and to ones of a friend of mine. A similar situation was also reported in an other review. So, the boot lost a part of its stiffnes before one weeks of ridding!!!

2. After about three weeks on the mountain the toe of my right boot collapsed exactly as descrided in another review here. The left one is ok, but the rigth one is completely out of order!

As a minor issue (probably connected to the previous ones) I must say that the boots get SO EASILY wet on a warm day, that after just two or three hours on the slopes it is not possibe to ride them anymore - you feel yourself like beiing in a pool rather then a slope =((

I also agree with an earlier remark regarding the boot having ALOT of room in the toe box, both side to side and up and down. It irritates me a lot, but seems to have no practical effect =)

Only hope that theese issues are resolved in 2013 year model.
