Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So the Dakine product designers were sitting around one day, and said "Hey! You know what? We have totally neglected the Heli-skiers!" Okay. I will probably never use this pack to carry skis. BUT, I can carry a tablet computer, passport, snacks, water, hat, gloves, keys, documents, etc. etc. etc hands free! I plan to use it as an urban pack, somewhere between a fanny pack and a huge nerdy pack which looks dumb in town. It's so flat I can sit or even drive wearing it. I won't need the waist belt, but it folds up nicely, or I may even cut it off eventually. We all know there are hundreds of packs out there and it's hard for manufacturers to target every possible application, but I'm glad I found this (on sale!) for my purpose. And of course if I ever need to use my shovel in Starbucks, I'm totally covered!

I think this jacket is somewhere between an outer shell and a layering jacket. It looks good, seems to block wind well. I expected it to be a bit warmer for 300 polartec, but it must be pretty tough to make a jacket that will keep you warm, breathe with activity, and still block oncoming wind. I am 6'3, 220, XL fits well.
