Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My son (now 17) and I have used this tent numerous times for backpacking over the past four years. The tent has seen a variety of places (including the Philmont Scout Reservation, Pisgah National Forest and the SC Foothills) and weather conditions (my numb fingers at the top of Mt Phillips, NM, or the tempest that arose while on an island in the middle of Lake Fontana, NC).
The tent has taken all that we have thrown at it and continues to beg for more. This is the third backpacking tent I have owned and have used several others on different trips. My son wants to take this tent on our car-camping trips over a roomier 4 person tent we own. This tent is the real deal and worth every five-star review.
My son and I tend to boast about the tent while on the trail with others. It is the quickest to set up and easiest to take down. It offers more than adequate space both inside and in the vestibule. It has always kept us dry, even during torrential downpours and driving rain. With the additional guy ties, it is not bothered by the wind.
After the first few trips, we started a photographic journal - taking a picture of every place that we have taken this tent. Kind of like watching an odometer to keep track of the miles.
