The 33 in S/M is marked at being 66 cm tall - i suppose this is from the bottom to the top of the top pocket when stuffed full .
Does anyone have the measurement of just the height of the padded back panel ?
How tall would the pack be if not packed all the way up ,
with the top pocket zinched flat and down with the front vertical straps?
I've seen pictures of people hiking like this , and the size of the pack resembles the smaller Talon 22 quite nicely.

But leaves the option for more space when needed.

Thanks a bunch,
Erik

Hi there,
what sort of backpanel does the pack have ?
Does it keep its shape well -
is there a pe-plate integrated within?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my experience, a full 3 liter camelback and days gear , packs with just a foam backpanel have a tendency to bulge out towards the wearers back .

Do the drawcords at the cuffs stay fixed at the adjusted tightness , or do they become loose easily like the ones on my Arc'teryx Kappa AR Puffy pants .
( Had to tie a knot to keep them from loosening on their own.)

Also - are there snow gaitors on the inside of the cuffs?
Do they have gripper rubber threads to help them stay put around hiking boots and tele-boots?

Thanks

Love this shovel. Nicely light weight .
The metalic red anodising is actually kind of pretty ,too.
The short length is perfect for digging out snow caves and making avi accessment pits. And the extended length works great when starting off digging , whilst still having room around yourself.
strong edge and top of shovel blade make chopping hard snow to bits a breeze..
The d-handle allows a good grip even with mitts on.

1 thing that has given me cause for checking for wear is -
the loose fitting of the shove blade into the handle pipe.
I fixed it by wraping some electrical tape around the very end of the handle - the part that goes into the blade.
While chopping hard snow , there is a clanking sound as the hole in the shovel blade hits the spring loaded locking button in the shaft. Wonder how long it will last ... .

The blade is a bit short - i might get the Tele -pro -
for the extra 4 cm length.

Can never have enough shovels :P

Hi there ,
strange norrona did not include a elastic cord with cordlocks to tighten the hood in front.

- > Though i just noticed there is a fabric strip ,
on the inside edge of the hood .

If it forms a hollow "tube" , would it be possible to retrofit an 2-3 mm elastic cord w/ cord locks ?
Seem like a fairly easy sewing challenge .

Although it would seem strange to have to do this to brand new piece of clothing ...

My old Henderson Marine pump had a 3 foot long hose and needed to be filled with water before being able to pump anything .

---> Oh what a joy this pump is - compact - perfect hight for a sea-kayak.
Powerful stream of water streightaway.
It even floats do to high visibility foam floatation.
Found a small eyelet near the top - so now it is tied to the boat with a fixed length cord.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this binding on top of the v-20 riser with its fitting heal block.
Scarpa T2x boots on Fischer Boundless Crown XCD skis ( 98-69-88 )

It provides an amazing amount of side support - with the 2 upper bail positions .

I can easily crank turns on the down in soft snow and even in wetter heavier snow.

I use this setup in early winter in now more than a foot ( 30 cm ) of soft snow on base.

Any deeper or heavier snow and touring /uphill skiing becomes rather uncomfortable. As there isn't enough free upward movement of the boot and the ski thus tends to submarine under the snow at every step . Having to lift the snow on the ski tops on every step is quite a workout.

This is a comon affair with non-hinged bindings.

But the feeling of 3-pins is so liberating ,if the conditions are fitting.
So they'll allways have a place in my heart and quiver.
For deeper snow i bring out my other skiis with 7tm Power-tours - a hinged free tour binding.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

The pants really do fit well over everything.
But the rather puffy boxy look may not bee as stylish on its own - though the high warmth trumps style. :P
No pockets on this pant , but possible pockets on the underlying pants are easily accessed via the side zippers.

Wide cuffs go nicely over telemark plastic boots (Scarpa T2x ).
There is an elastic cord tightener at the cuff that doesn't work quite so well - velcro on outside would have been better.
But this won't matter much when worn over ski boots.
The lining is very slick durable feeling ripstop fabric.
The texture and color of the main fabric is pleasantly non-shiny and quiet.

High quality smooth running zippers.
Suprisingly small packing - so this pant will go on my day long backcountry ski tours - along with a puffy jacket for breaks and bivy.
Might also be an option as a warm layer under some shell pants.

Is the warmest synthetic puffy pant
i could find.

I really like the clean looks of this jacket.
I would be using it as my main wintertime shell.

My Q. are:

- Is there a drawcord at the hem ,
and one a bit higher up.
(where the powder skirt is usually mounted)
- Is there a rigid or wire supported visor on the hood?
- What sort of lining is on the inside?
Micro fleece/Dri-clime ?

Thanks,
Erik

Hi there,

what is the diameter or circumference of the wrist cuffs
unstretch'd ,on the L and XL ?
Does the jacket fit skin tight or can i fit a body hugging MH Monkey Man jacket underneath.
Also does the jacket have a hem drawcord ?
How thick is the fleece lining ? - Is it in the realm of power stretch or polartec 100?

Thanks a bunch,
Erik

Hi there ,
purple is one of my fav. colours ,

Does anyone know if the hood sports a firm ridgid brim -
to protect ones face and eyeglasses in rain and blizzard.

Also will it turn well with just a wool hat underneath (no helmet),
So that my head does not swivel - while the hood stays in place.

The cut looks very long , though .
As i do telemark skitouring/resort , if cut longer than mid butt ,
the jackets can prevent getting in the low enough turn stance.

Thanks a bunch. =P
