Ely's Bio

Travel changes you. Being somewhere other than home is like no other feeling. Waking up each day without an idea of what will happen is what makes it worth doing. I get outside and enjoy a sunny day until dusk. Be a traveler. Step outside of your comfort zone. Live life.

These pants are a great addition to anybody's gear. I am a trim 165 lb.s and 5'10. I went with the medium but could have chosen the small too. They are a little long but fit over a pair of thick-soled Asolo's well. What I love the most about them is the versatility. They are very light weight and breathable but still shed a chilly wind. Add a baselayer and you're ready for almost anything. The features of the pant are the icing on the cake. The built in belt is tough and easily adjustable. Quick drain pockets and easy drying make a dip in the river an easy decision. My favorite is the hidden elastic at the ankle, which makes them easy to roll up and they stay put. Much easier then worrying about a busted zipper on a convertable pant. Note: the squeeze tightener is a little hard to find. It's covered in its pocket. If you're looking for your first pair of hiking/climbing pants, you can't go wrong with these. These are my first pair but won't be my last.

I am in the market for my first softshell. I have been looking at three different jackets and I can't make up my mind. I am 5'10" a trim 165 lbs, 40" chest. I am considering TNF Apex Bionic, Marmot Ultima or the MHW Alchemy. I would be using it for chilly runs and mountain biking in NE Kansas during the winters. I spend summers in Glacier National Park. If you have been, you know what the weather can be like up there. If you've got a little advice, please help me out. I'd love to hear your opinion.
