I took fingered winter gloves ($40 pair ) and then also these deluxe mittens to Steamboat last year. Thank GOD I had these because after 2 days with blizzard conditions and the wind chill, the cheap fingered gloves did not cut it. I had to use these down mittens! When I went dog sledding for 2+ hours and was driving the sled, the cold actually did creep into the top 1" and leave my tips cold, but it was a 15 degree wind chill. I'd say there's a threshold in temperature where this is not good enough, but for downhill skiing it was great.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I saw the mention of Steamboat in the other review last year and purchased this, and found it was way too big for 1 person's daily needs. The other review said a family used it to carry gear, which sounds logical. At 854 cubic volume capacity, it holds A LOT. I carried an extra set of gloves, and other small gear, but it added 2+ inches to my back ,which is substantial when you are sitting on the narrow chair lifts at Steamboat....I had to constantly worry about not sitting well on the lifts. This year, I bought the 2 liter capacity (this one holds 3 liters, which is really too much for a day of skiing and heavy) one that is for trail runners and only holds a phone and keys....My winter coat already has pockets, so I don't need the capacity of this one....Recommended for a couple or small family....

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: Runs large
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 155 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I wanted to leave a review because a year ago I ordered the size L and they were too big. There were no helpful reviews from people my size to gauge if I needed a M or L. Due to the blizzard, they arrived late for my ski trip last year, and I returned them. This year, I purchased the M, and they fit great! The M is recommended for people around my 'specs' in the subject. Likewise, I'd say the M is like a US women's 8-10 (more a 10 or a 32" waist jeans). I'd say the L is for people over 158 lbs, or a US women's 12. I'm 155 lbs and the M is perfect and will continue to be even if I lose 5-8 lbs. or gain a few lbs. If I were to be under 145 lbs., I'd try the S instead. In terms of fit, the legs are definitely a bit baggy. If you like form-fitting ski pants to show your svelte figure, these are not for you. This brand is definitely well made. The pants themselves weigh a few pounds. They also have a zip-off top where you can attach a bib, which this model/style do NOT come with -- its an add on. Looking forward to using these in a month in Colorado!!
