Got these for my dualing 10 y.o. twins to ride the bike park. They've used hard plastic shell pads before with lots of issues around fit and comfort. Spent more time adjusting pads than riding...at least that how it felt. These pads seem to be more ergo and fit around spindly arms and legs a little better. Kids are stoked and want to shred! My girl did an OTB down Heart of Darkness and after drying the tears realized that the pads took a the brunt off the dirt!
I've had the jacket a few months now and have worn it biking through Seattle's rainy winter. Does the job. Good for those 38-45 degree days with a long sleeve underneath. I'm really happy with how small it packs down and can store in a jersey pocket. Only ding would be the sleeves. They tailor very tight on my wrists which make it difficult to get on and off.
Good pack for side country trips - enough space to stuff in skins, shovel blade, water, camera and a little food. As long as you don't mind strapping your probe and shovel handle to the outside of the pack. Which is my only complaint - the cinches to tie down said items come loose very easily.
