David's Bio

I'm a skier first, but a Road/Dirt cyclist next - unless it is late spring through early fall then flip that...

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Stiff enough to charge, but not too stiff to cruise. Great lateral support with a nice smooth flex. I can't speak to park performance...
Boa closure? HELL YES! Best thing to happen to footwear since velcro! Double dials, one for the forefoot, one for the cuff. Simple dial turn to fine tune fit with perfectly distributed pressure. But be ready - if you have laces now and you buy these it will ruin you forever.
I'm riding them right out of the box and they feel great - a little customization of the liner would make them heavenly.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Columbia jackets are great for kids - this one is no exception. But the thing that makes them awesome is the outgrown system. Allowing you to make the arms and legs longer for a second season is a money saver! The sleeves seem to need it more than the legs, but a simple 2 minute process and you have a jacket that fits like you bought it yesterday - not a year ago.

K2 did a great job of putting together a package that is sized right and everything works right out of the box - if my kid wasn't goofy (more than her stance), I wouldn't have even needed a screwdriver.

The board is super light and flexes real easy. Flat camber profile makes it relatively easy to ride. Bindings are easy for dad to adjust and easy for kid to put on, ratchet down, and get off again even with mittens. Do you have Boa on your boots - you wish you did. "Put on your boots" "crank, crank, crank - they are already on dad!" They fit well and she can do them herself in under a minute.

I've had one complaint about cold feet from a kid who NEVER gets cold - I'll have to see if that is a trend or a fluke....

Set it and forget it

The intent of the toebox bucket is to dial in the fit and never have to touch it again, the 3 piece shell makes it possible to enter/exit without releasing the buckle. In the living room, adjusting that buckle seems to uniformly tighten the toe box without weird pressure from any one direction - at least on my flippers.

This is a great place to start. If you keep up with your cleaning this has pretty much everything you need for the major areas. Parts are all well built and hold up to repeated usage. You'll still need an old toothbrush and some q-tips if you want to get really clean in the really tight spots. And some rags for drying, And you are still a little weird if you clean your tires.

No it doesn't tell you how fast you are going. No it doesn't track your heart rate. But it tells the time, it tracks your time running, it wakes you up in the morning, the battery lasts for years, it works for interval training - your Garmin 110 doesn't even do that! Best thing about this watch? I spend more time looking at the trail/street/slopes and less time worrying about my instant pace and elevation gain.

I've had a bunch of these for years. Good solid bottles and super durable. Stickers make em look fancy and make me look hardcore. Top seals well and the mouthpiece is easy enough. I prefer it with the straw out so you have to tilt it up, but that's just a preference - nice that you can have it either way!
Buy a few, sticker them up, fill them with tasty drinks!

I tried this shoe a half size larger than my normal size at someone's recommendation and it was still too tight. You may need to size up a full size to get the right fit. I never could get it right so I passed on them - but that could just be my foot... Otherwise they seem well built and had nice cushion without feeling bulky.
