What has changed in the 2013 model?
5 months in. I got them tight and they stretched just about a third of a size or so to the perfect tightness. After a few months they developed a hell of a deathstench, and to rectify this I've thrown them in the washing machine. They're back! They fit my feet very well. I plan to wear them for another month and get them resoled.
How is the hip belt removed? Is it the hex nut found near the ball joint?
While wearing these in the snow I spend as much time blowing hot air into my fingers as I do working.
There's a cinch strap on the glove collar that broke on the first outing.
That said, they fit well and have reasonably good dexterity. I might continue wearing them for summer snow climbs.
The size is nice, but as others have mentioned:
- The screwgate squeaks and feels shoddy.
- The screwgate becomes hard to unscrew after the biner has been weighted.
- It requires about twice as many turns to screw/unscrew compared to other popular screwgate lockers.
- If there's snow around the screw anywhere, you're going to have quite a tough time escaping from the biner's clutches.
