Dave Schultzwrote a review of Scarpa Defender Alpine Touring Boot - Men's on January 9, 2015
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
As opposed to Wasangelian I have not had any problems with mine. I have not used them much, but they fit into a small nitch. If I need something that climbs well (ie better than a normal duckbill tele boot) but where the descent it not technical enough to justify my AT set up, these fit perfectly with the tele tech binding system. I have done one or two longish backcountry tours with some steep climbing and mellow skiing and a few resort days.
The boots seem more voluminous and bulky than my Scarpa T2s, but the liner from my T2 fits into these so it's a good process to transition from one boot to another.
They accept BD Neve crampons well.
