Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pants are incredible. I've had them now for at least 5 or 6 years. There was a honeymoon period where I was gentle with them but I have been beating on them for a few years now and they are as reliable and solid as the day I got them. Totally bombproof ProShell engineering with extra strong material sewn into the knees, behind, and ankles. I wear these pants in all sorts of conditions, all year long. With waterproof full-length zips, they are lightweight and ventilated enough to wear on a humid rainy summer day, but heavily enough designed that, with a layer underneath, they offer warmth on the coldest days on the mountain. I appreciate the way they are cut too: they are sort of slim fitting around the legs; enough so that they look good and stay out of the way (unlike so many baggy ski pants). If you lay them on their side you can see that they are cut and sewn into a sort of aggressive stance: there is just enough extra room around the knees and ankles that they look trim but feel roomy. These pants are reliable and bombproof and I can't recommend them enough. As a disclaimer, I received them as a part of the MountainTec program in order to put them to the test and review them. I have. These pants are awesome.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is absolutely perfect. It's made with Gore-Tex so you know it's waterproof and breathable. The new Proshell material is so lightweight that it actually packs down smaller than my Paclite jacket from just a couple of years ago. The hood on this jacket is huge but super adjustable so that you can snug it right up against a helmet or just cinch it up around your head for a perfect fit. And the collar is nice and tall to keep the cold off your face but also lose fitting so that it isn't in the way and doesn't compete with other layers around your neck. There are plenty of pulls to adjust this jacket for a perfect fit. It's just a shell but it would keep the cold out on a mountain just as well as it will keep the rain off on a summer day. Seriously awesome. I get to field test and keep Gore-Tex products occasionally and have had the pleasure of wearing a handful of good jackets, and this one is really worth the investment. Versatile, durable, functional, and beautifully engineered.

this jacket is so well made. I would usually swear by arc'tyrex but this jacket surprised me. i love the snug fit. best hood I've seen by far. the rubber gaskets at the wrists are an awesome addition and the chest pockets are designed so that they can balloon out if you need the extra space. shell material feels especially resistant. This jacket has all the extras. Still a fan of arc'tyrex but prior to wearing this jacket I wouldn't have expected anything could compare. This jacket does. disclaimer: I field test and occasionally receive Gore-Tex jackets for that purpose.

these are really fantastic shoes for hiking in any weather. They are solidly made and comfortable right out of the box. Super grippy on slick rock and wet roots alike. And of course the fact that they are lined with Gore Tex makes them my go-to shoe for any serious outdoor excursion. as a disclaimer, I do receive some products from Gore for the purpose of field testing. So I am lucky to have experience with so many great products. If you want to stay dry from head to toe these are the shoes for the job.

I've worn these bibs for the last 3 or 4 years in all types of weather and all sorts of outdoor madness and they are totally bombproof. Great construction- lots of extra material where you need it but still simple enough to pack down small. Water proof zippers reach down the entire length of the leg so that you can adjust according to the weather or humidity. I wear these pants all four seasons and I am pretty rough on them and after 3 years they are still in excellent shape and totally waterproof. Gore Tex material keeps them dry inside and out. Also, these pants are not baggy like so many others. I am lucky in that I get to test products for Gore and occasionally receive new gear from them. These pants are Proshell and therefore the absolute top of the line. Absolutely amazing.

This jacket is really awesome- as far as I can tell it is as light and packable as the Paclite, but so much more durable and comfy. Super high thread count makes it soft and silky so that it feels great to wear. The hood is awesome too. I'm not crazy about the pockets- high on your chest and out of the way of a pack- but if you are a climber I suppose they are just right. The fit is a little bit bigger than the Beta, but accommodates more layers. I receive Gore products and test them so I have had a lot of experience with different jackets and this one is just incredibly light and comfortable.

I cannot say enough about the quality, reliability, and overall appeal of this jacket. Fit is true, the build is bombproof, the hood is perfect, the pockets are in all of the right places, and of course it's waterproof. As a disclaimer, I am a product tester for Gore and receive their products occasionally. This is the best Gore-Tex jacket that I have ever worn.
