Dallas McLellan's Bio

I work at Backcountry as a LiveHelp Gearhead. I am originally from Utah and with all of the adventures I have not really seen a reason to leave. Lacrosse kept me busy through high school and college, but I was always able to find time to go rock climbing, camping, biking, fishing and snowboarding.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

Bought these with work and after-work climbing sessions in mind. Very comfortable jeans with stretch to keep you from being restricted while hitting the climbing gym or local crag after work. 5'9" 180 and went with the 34x32 but probably would have been better off with 33 or possibly even 32.

Fit: Runs small

I love the flannel as it is very comfortable material and stylish. I've had a hard time finding flannels with an athletic fit that work with broad shoulders. I went with a large as that is what I wear in the majority of my shirts this one also felt pretty tight in the shoulders.

Bought this tent because my girlfriend, myself, and our two dogs no longer fit comfortably in a 2-person tent. This was my first Marmot tent and I was very confident in this purchase. Set up is extremely easy and there is plenty of space for two of us as well as our gear and dogs. The gear loft was a great addition and I love how the Hatch/Dark Cedar does not stand out when you are in the backcountry.

Bought my second pair recently to add another color of pants to the closet. 5' 9" and 180, went with the Large which are long and baggy but the draw string makes them work out fine. Haven't tried the Medium on but I liked the way the first pair fit so stuck with the Large. I've had my first pair for well over a year and can't say I've had the same issue of the fabric transparency due to normal or excessive wear.

I bought this before a climbing trip to the desert and have only used it for one weekend, but this will definitely be an essential piece of gear on many trips to come. It worked great for recharging phones and speakers to keep the photos and tunes coming for the whole trip.

I haven't used this tent in any extreme conditions, but it is easy to set up and its definitely an oven to sleep in. Aside from the condensation being pretty bad, which was expected, the only concern I've had is the floor design. The edges are raised, so it feels like the seams will break down with a decent amount of use.

These shoes are great. I've been using them for about two months now on rock from slickrock to granite and everything in between. The comfort is unbeatable, even when you really tighten them down for more rigorous ascents and descents. I've used them for some light climbing and they performed really well, once these are worn out I'll definitely be going with another pair from Scarpa.

I just picked up my second pair, about 6 months after my previous review. I started using them heavily indoors throughout the winter and the rubber wore down quick and the toes blew out. With the amount of use I put on them, they definitely exceeded my expectations and after checking out a few new options, these still were the best option for me.

This was my first purchase of a Petzl headlamp and I am very impressed so far. It's extremely bright and after having the Core system demo'd by the Petzl reps, I am definitely interested in getting that additional feature set up. The strap has stayed on a helmet fine and the batteries have lasted through a few weekends out camping. Will post again when the core is set up

Sweet Pack!

Bought this for my 30 lb Brittany, a small fit her perfectly. It hasn't seemed to bug her at all and with the days and hikes that we have spent in the mountains, she has not had the same chafing problem as listed below. Its got plenty of space for the pup to carry any necessities and it tightens down so it doesn't flop all over the place or slide around.

The Maze is a nice helmet, it is comfortable and there is definitely plenty of warmth without a hat. The venting isn't the best, but not a huge issue. The helmet is very light and Oakley Goggles fit it nicely
