Chris Yates's Bio

I spend my days skiing, hiking, backpacking, camping, biking, fishing and playing with my dog Jerry and my wife Sarah. I am lucky enough to have the best snow in the world to ski and multiple mountain ranges just out my back door that offer endless fun and adventure. When I get some time off of work I do my best to travel the world to find new mountains to play in but it is always nice to come home to the Wasatch.

These boxers are simply the best I have ever owned. They are comfortable and don't ever bunch up. They stay cool and comfortable even while being active in the summer heat. I have owned Patagonia boxers for years and they have all held up. As long as Patagonia keeps making boxers it is a no brainer of what brand I will buy.

These socks have all of the comfort and performance that I have come to expect from Smartwool. They keep my feet warm in the winter and do a great job wicking and keeping my feet dry and cool in the summer.

I gave these socks 4 stars because they usually do not hold up for the long term to the abuse that I put them through. I usually start to develop holes on the bottoms after about a year of use.

I bought these for my wife and she loves them. They look good and they are sturdy. Both the frames and lenses have the quality that you would expect from Smith. The polarized lenses work great in all lighting conditions. The frames will fit medium to large head sizes but may be a little large if you have a smaller head.

I bought these for my wife and they are a huge hit. The keep her feet warm and dry in the snow but they are not too clunky to drive in. The also look nice enough for her to wear with work clothes. They fit her as expected so you should order your normal size.

I bought this bike for my father and it was his first road bike. It is a great entry level bike with solid components and you cannot beat the price. He loves the bike and has been putting a lot of miles on it. Sizing can be a little tricky but I contacted a Gearhead at Competitive Cyclist and he set me up with the perfect fit.

These shoes are great. They are light, comfortable and super breathable. They are sturdy and the soles are stiff and rugged. They fit true to size and if you are not familiar with EU sizing, the sizing chart on this page is accurate.

My son loves this jacket. It keeps him dry and seems to be windproof as well. It is just a shell but I think it will work fine on the ski slopes with the appropriate layers. The great orange color will make it easy to see him while he is skiing out of control through the crowds. This jacket fits true to size and should stay in great shape long after he out grows it.

This shirt is soft and comfortable and one of our go-tos when dressing our 2 year old. The shirt speaks the truth and always agrees with our son. It also gets a good laugh from most people.

This shirt fits as expected and holds up better than most shirts we have bought for him. It also seems to hold its size and shape through many laundry cycles better than most.

I always have a water bottle in my hand and with most of them I get dripped on with every drink. This bottle has a great design that eliminates that issue. The smaller opening makes drinking easy and drip free even while walking. The larger cap is a little difficult to get off to refill but it is a minor inconvenience for the upside this bottle provides.

I bought these for my wife and she loves them. They are comfortable enough to wear daily and tough enough to wear on the trail. If you are not used to wearing this style of sandal you will need a couple of days to break them in and get your feet used to the straps but then you will be good to go for years. They fit as expected so go with your normal size.

I have owned many Marmot shirts and loved them all. The Brookhurst is no exception. It looks great and is super comfortable. It stays nice and cool in the summer heat.

I wear my shirts big so I bought and XL and it fits exactly as expected. You cannot go wrong with this one.

My father has circulation and swelling issues in his legs and I bought him a CEP Calf Sleeve a couple years ago hoping he would use it. Not only did he use it, he wore it out. He wears it every day and needed a new one. I just bought him the identical sleeve and he will be all set for another couple of years. I am not a doctor so I don't want to get into the details of the medical benefits but his doctor is happy with the results of wearing the sleeve regularly.

Almost every pair of jeans that I own are Carhartts. The one issue I have had with Carhartts is that they can be inconsistent with fit. This pair fits perfectly true to size. This pair is also not quite as heavy duty as some Carhartts and are comfortable on the first wear.

I gave this sleeping bag as a gift to a 4 year old that plans to start camping next summer. He loves the bag so much that he uses it most nights. Even when sleeping in a warm house, he would rather sweat than sleep without his Grasshopper. I am not sure yet if the bag will indeed perform at 30 degrees but so far it has not disappointed.

My son is not yet a year and half old but he already loves his Strider. In fact, we have to hide it at times or that is the only thing he wants to do. Since this was a Christmas present, he is only able to ride indoors now but he will be at full speed once the snow melts. It is amazing to see how quickly young children gain the biking skills and confidence that it took us all years to get with training wheels. I recommend the Strider to anybody ready to get their little ones on two wheels.

Frye boots are not cheap but my wife would be the first to tell you, they are worth every penny. These were a Christmas gift this year and Santa received a big thumbs up.

These are made of the highest quality leather and the craftsmanship is top notch. These boots should last a life time.
