Chris Purkey's Bio

I was born and raised here in the Salt Lake City, UT. So I'm no stranger to the breadth of activities Utah's unique landscape has to offer. In the winters you can find me snowboarding up Big Cottonwood canyon or angling along the frigid stretch of the Middle Provo River. In summers, you probably won't be able to find me because I'll be tucked away in the Uinta's with my family or hiding in a nice river hole throwing flies.

When I'm not playing or being a family man, I work here at Backcountry.com. I'm the Vice President of Gearhead Operations. Our Gearheads are the lifeblood of Backcountry. They’re the first folks customers interact with, and the reason customers return to our site. We wholeheartedly believe service is a differentiator that our business thrives upon. Gearheads pride themselves on expertise; in-depth, technical knowledge of the gear we sell as well as a love of the activities it’s used for… Not to mention, they’re nothing short of total and complete BADASSES. These guys and gals GET AFTER IT outside! I'm passionate about being outside and hell-bent on ensuring that our team helps you find the right ski, saddle or rod.

Whatever it takes to connect you to your passion, we are here for you!

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this for my 2 year old son, who has a massive 21" head. The dimensions on the helmet indicate it should fit him, but yet it's still a little too big. Luckily, he's not doing anything crazier than zipping around on a strider in the driveway. I would have preferred a more snug fit though.

This thing is a game changer. Our 2-year-old son LOVES it. It's really easy to put on your seat tube and is a super smooth pull. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stroller/trailer alternative. Plus, look at it! It's so damn cool looking.

Get in gear with the law son, pick yourself up a clean non -intrusive knog frog light. I've been rocking these guys for years and love them. They get you the visibility needed to feel safe and are pretty cool looking compared to some of the more clumsy larger lights out there.

Fit: Runs small

I previously wrote a review on these saying I love them. I changed my mind. The era core vans is extremely uncomfortable and hard to break in vs. it's insanely superior brother the authentic core skate shoe. I'll wear the authentics every day until I die, but will never buy another pair of the era's after owning a handful. They run half a size too small, so that's part of the problem, but they also have a narrow fit that doesn't stretch. I dunno, maybe I have hobbit feet or something. Figure it out, or don't, and just by the authentics because you wanna be hip and classic like the 1980's skate crews.

I got this in a medium and it fits like an XS. Combined with the heavy material, I just hated it. I'm pretty sure I'd need to get a L or XL to fit right and am still not sure I'd love the fit/style on me.

Fit: True to size

I bought these for my son as he has been asking for a fresh pair of Nike's. He says these are hands down his favorite pair of shoes ever owned. While I personally think he looks like an old man running around in gray sneakers and jeans, but he's pumped and that's all that matters.

Fit: Runs large

I thought this shirt looked super fresh. It runs slightly large but in a way that I really dug. Only downfall, it accidentally got washed on warm the first go and the blue in the sleeves bled into the white body and now it looks like a shitty attempt at tie-dye. Busted. I will probably buy another and try to get it washed the right way.

I dig the graphic of the shirt, but after washing it once it shrunk down quite a bit. It's still a cool shirt and I'm sure I'll wear it somewhat often but doubt it will remain in the rotation for a long while. Seems like it will be one of those shirts that loses it's fit after use and wash.

Unlike other folks, I thought the fit was perfect. It wasn't snug and wasn't too large. I really like the material, it's solid and feels durable. That said, it accidentally got washed in hot water the first go and faded quite a bit. Otherwise, I'm sure it will stay in my rotation for a bit.
