Chris Purkey's Bio

I was born and raised here in the Salt Lake City, UT. So I'm no stranger to the breadth of activities Utah's unique landscape has to offer. In the winters you can find me snowboarding up Big Cottonwood canyon or angling along the frigid stretch of the Middle Provo River. In summers, you probably won't be able to find me because I'll be tucked away in the Uinta's with my family or hiding in a nice river hole throwing flies.

When I'm not playing or being a family man, I work here at Backcountry.com. I'm the Vice President of Customer Support, which I consider synonymous to "Papa Gearhead". I'm passionate about being outside and hell-bent on ensuring that our team helps you find the right ski, saddle or rod.

Whatever it takes to connect you to your passion, we are here for you!

Familiarity: I've used it several times

The first week I owned this case I was pumped, it's super slim, light weight and very very durable. It feels good to use and definitely makes me feel secure about my phone, seeing as how I am someone who goes through phones like they're disposable (not really... but sort of). My ONLY complaint about the case is that it really inhibits the volume levels of phone calls. I cannot hear most people during a conversation unless I use speakerphone, and it's still pretty muffled. You'd think I would have thought about that ahead of time, seeing as it's waterproof and sealed tight. Just something to consider if you're looking at getting this case. I'll definitely use it for trips and for when I'm getting outside, but will find an alternative for daily use.

Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 175 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I'm typically not a huge fan of tech gear for casual wearing, but these shorts beat expectations. The fit is great, the 4 way stretch makes them extremely comfortable, and they look awesome. I've yet to commute in them, or wear them during anything crazy but they're sure to support and withstand. Looking forward to getting out and about in them.

Fit: Runs large

Pretty rad hat, great for those sun loving days. I typically wear a 7 3/4 baseball cap, got this in a size large and it's a tiny bit too big, but still good enough to keep and wear. I fear a medium would be too small.

Fit: True to size

Before these, I tried the 511 commuters which fit and looked awesome until I washed them. After which they were just too damn tight to wear. These on the other hand are perfect. Not too skinny, not too baggy. Just a good normal fit pants. I highly recommend them to someone looking for a slim jean that is wider than a skinny jean.

I typically wear a size 9.5 in most shoes but grabbed these in a size 9 and 10 just to test it out because they seemed like they were less likely to break in. Glad I did, the 9 was far too small while the 10 fit pretty well. I gotta be honest, the first two days wearing these were incredibly uncomfortable, they hurt like shit. However, once broken in they are some of my favorite boots and wear them every time I ride my bikes (moto and cycle) - see boot on first rider below for reference.
