I put these on my Enduro, I cut them down to 760, 800 was just a bit too wide. The bars are amazing, they absorb tons of chatter and feel great on the trail. Not to mention that they are a work of art, the carbon is perfect, the design is simple and inspired. I am sure that I will be upgrading my the bars on my DH bike to these bars in the very near future.
I love these shades for riding, they dont fog when you are moving, when you stop and do get some condensation, just start pedaling again and the airflow through the lens will clear out the fog. A great design that keeps you from pulling them off your face and wiping them down.
I love this jacket, Astral thought of everything when they designed it, I love having easy access to a throw bag (I know too many people that keep them under their spray skirts) and the safety features give you piece of mind.
When paddling the low cut design makes you forget that you are wearing a PFD but when you're in the water it offers great flotation, really it is everything you could want in a life vest.
I love this paddle, it has a great feel, it's perfectly balanced and it inspires trust. Whitewater kayaking can be terrifying, I only want equipment that I trust my life with, the AT Bent Shaft carbon paddle is what I trust.
I did break this paddle (to be fair I think any paddle would have snapped in this situation), I sent an email off to AT, they gave me an RMA, repaired it and sent it right back, you can't ask for better customer service.
Every year I get a new pair of these (I live in an area that allows me to wear them year round), after a couple day break-in period these things mold to your feet and just get more and more comfortable.
They are super durable and the sizing is pretty true to normal shoe sizing.
After several years of using subpar snips, I decided to go really high end and got a pair of knipex cable cutters, I found they performed exactly the same way as cheap cutters when it came to cutting bike cables, so I bit the bullet and got these, the Park cutters are amazing, a clean cut EVERY-TIME.
I am crazy about keeping my drivetrain clean and laser precise, the Dumonde tech lite makes it easy to keep the chain clean. I mostly ride in the southwest and the dust tends to gunk up on on the chain. It also works wonders on wet & muddy conditions on the DH bike.
Leatt makes a great product, I have had two major crashes wearing the Leatt and it in both instances I feel like it really saved me from much bigger injuries then I could have sustained.
In a crash when your head hits and your helmet pushes into the leatt you can feel a sensation that can best be described as your helmet locking into place as the force continues your neck is well protected (at least in the two instances when I "tested" it). I truly feel like these things are life savers and will someday be as common in DH riding as fullface helmets are today.
I like the 661 Evo suit, I had the previous hard model and went to this version, but never really felt protected. I like the ability to move freely and felt like it was designed really well but I was just looking for more protection.
I really like the titan, it fits well and I feel super protected in it, but I could never get the leatt to fit well with it, a buddy of mine has not problems and didn't modify his leatt or titan. If you ware looking for something that is Leatt compatible my advice would be to keep looking, but if you just want protection this is a great suit.
I used the Fox Launch Knee/Shin pads for a couple of seasons DH riding, they held up well and took plenty of abuse.
I did have a few issues with them, the first was I was always pulling them up, they would slide down my leg while pedaling, they stayed close enough to where they needed to be that I didn't feel like I would not be protected in a crash so it was more of an annoyance. The second issue is related to the first, when they would slide down they would rest on the top of my foot and dig in creating a hot spot that would eventually get pretty raw if I let the pads rest there too long. This issue does not effect everyone, it is really based on your leg length.
I am a huge fan of the POC protection equipment, finding pads that stay in place has been a challenge for years, thanks to POC I don't have to worry about it anymore.
I bought these after using the pOC joint VPD knee pads for increased protection when riding DH, the pads offer tons of protection and don't rub on the frame when riding and I don't feel like as much of a storm trooper when I am armored up.
I love these shirts, they are quick drying, super soft and comfortable. I really like the slim fit. They do run on the small side.
I have always had issues finding pads that stay in place and offer good protection, usually those things don't got hand in hand, thankfully POC has stepped in and filled that void.
The first time I wore these I found them to be a bit uncomfortable but after a couple rides they broke in and actually became really comfortable.
There are a couple of things i would change, one is to have it go a bit lower on the forearm to offer a bit more protection and the other is to make them more breathable. On hot days you are hyper aware that you are wearing these pads. But those two things should not stop you from getting these, the fact that they stay in place and are so comfortable outweighs those issues.
They run kind of small so I would say if you are on the edge, go to the next size up.
I am a huge fan of the hightop Impacts, they a super cushy and offer tons of ankle protection, so when you case something or fail some huck you can avoid a twist or sprain. They stick to the pedal pins as if you're clipped it but give you the ability to easily bail if needed. They run a bit small so if you are inbetween sizes I would recommend going up a half size.
After a couple of years of regular use they barely show signs of wear.
I carry these for 9,10 and 11 speed chains, I run into people with broken chains on the trail all the time and it is nice to be able to provide some assistance to get them riding again. Everyone should ride with these in their packs.
Until recently I would have said SRAM Avid trails are the best brakes on the market, but Shimano has really stepped it up in the lastest generation XT and XTR brakes, which have insane stopping power and the icetech rotors are impossibly good at shedding heat. So light weight and so precise when it comes to braking.
I am a bike fan of the SRAM Avid brakes, great stopping power, low maintenance and light weight.
Until recently I would have said these are the best brakes on the market, but Shimano has really stepped it up in the lastest generation XT and XTR brakes, which have insane stopping power and the icetech rotors are impossibly good at shedding heat. I still think the Avid Trails are a five star brake and I am happy to see Shimano and SRAM pushing the envelope of what is possible. If I was building up a bike today I am not sure which brake I would choose, it would likely come down to a cost decision.
I have used the X.0 drivetrain for years and the nice thing about it is that it is like a swiss clock, always precise, well built, and beautifully crafted. Abuse after abuse, beating after beating the X.O group gets the job done.
The cranks are easy to install and complement the rest of the X) group perfectly.
