Charles "Chip" Pinder's Bio

Currently I am a civilian contractor in Afghanistan. When I am back home I enjoy hiking and camping. Its my dream goal to someday hike the AT, and maybe some of the other long trails. I will be venturing to Iceland for some hiking/backpacking there in the next few months for vacation!

I have been traveling around the US and the world with this bag over the past year. I can say its a great investment. Currently, I am using it as my primary bag here in Afghanistan. I doubt that anyone will have this sort of issue but the straps are actually long enough to fit over Body Armor, which means it will definitely fit over any coat you can throw at it. My first trip over to Afghan, this bag was loaded with 48 POUNDS of gear and clothes and wasn't showing any signs of strain. While I have been here, I routinely carry between 30-38 pounds of clothes and gear and this bag takes it will ease. Great choice, great fit, and honestly, have not left home without it!

I have a version of this one with an Air Purge valve in it. It you want sturdy and dry with the ability to see inside, this is the way to go! These bags are VERY Durable, and can deal with a lot. The only reason why it gets 4 instead of 5 stars, because its rubbery, it doesn't slide in and out of a backpack very well. Other than that, I have been living out of mine for 4 months, and use it everyday!

I have 2 of these in 30L. I packed my gear to live in Afghanistan for an entire year, using these two compression sacks. I have received compliments and looks of amazement as I pulled these out of my backpack - due to the amount of stuff they hold and how compact they get. In fact, I have been living out of them for 4 months, traveling around the world and never had an issue. I wish I could make them smaller in circumference, but thats the ONLY downside. You wont regret this purchase, whether you are gone for a couple days to traveling around the world for a year!

I bought this pillow thinking I was going to regret the purchase... BUT LET ME TELL YOU! Very comfortable, I have used it on a plane, sleeping at a friends house, deployed here in Afghanistan, in an airport (Ok, Multiple airports around the world). I keep this packed in my carry on because it packs so small. Oh and its very durable too. I have laid on my side with this under my arm - Im no light guy at 240 pounds! and no bulging or complaining. I have also had my extremely hyper 55 pound lab use it as a launching point jumping down off my couch - not even a small scratch! Great pillow, worth every penny, and a local company to New England home home stomping grounds - Can't beat it!

Right now I am using this bag in Afghanistan. I used it for a few months before this deployment just to get used to it and loved it. It packs down in its stuff sack, I can fit a couple Sea to Summit Bag liners and a pillow, or a Military Poncho liner as a sheet. It doesn't take up much room at all. Also, there is a small little pocket I put my iPod Nano in at night to keep it from falling off my bed/cot. I will be buying an additional one so I can zip both together for camping trips with my GF.
