Chad's Bio

As a proud resident of the Pacific Northwest, I do my best to both appreciate and explore the beautiful natural environments just "outside my door". This is an extremely amazing part of the country and I simply love being out in it.

Just one of the best. Keen takes warmth to a whole new level. These boots have kept my feet so warm and yet they don't sweat a drop. I have worn them around town, shoveling snow, to football games and snowshoeing. They are light and yet sturdy. They provide just the right amount of warmth with a medium thickness hiking sock like the Smartwool Phd. The duel climate rubber outsole grips changing surfaces without flinching. If you are looking for a go-to winter boot with the ability to keep up with anything life throws at you then these are perfect.

This little guy has been very helpful when our hikes go a little longer then expected. I haven't used the red light yet but the floods work really well. It truly lights up the night and has prevented some potentially hurt ankles. The double bright setting gives out plenty of useable light and broadcasts a wide fan. I'm glad I have this little wonder in my pack. Plus the case protects the lamp well. Overall th lamp gives out a lot of light and isn't very heavy. The battery life is good as well. Good lamp.

I wanted an option to have a vented hat for summer hikes and thought this guy looked great. I like to sport the BC gear but was a little unimpressed. The color of the green version was what I expected (bright), but I was surprised how tall the front of the hat is. It either sticks up quite high or sits really low on my head, flattening my ears, depending on how I wear it. I decided to keep it for BC pride but might not wear it as much as I had hoped.

If you suffer from chronic heal blisters, as I do, these are not the cure. However, I do agree these socks are one of the best. They wick moisture away from your feet with true speed and efficiency. I have never felt uncomfortable while hiking in the summer or using them with my Keen winter boots. They fit well and are truly comfortable as an everyday sock. Good job Smartwool.

I bought this as an under layer for my Apex in the winter. However, I've been wearing it all spring and loving it! It's warm but moves excess heat away from my body like a champ and that's something coming from a guy who can get hot fast! It has a very soft inner lining and the abrasion resistant exterior stands up to the test. I have run into bushes and doors and there is not one pulled thread! This is a must for cool days and excellent under a soft shell for the very cold mornings and winter days.
