Wisconsin, Northern Michigan,Illinois,Iowa, and sometimes Colorado
I never leave home without this jacket, with good reason. I love that it packs into a pocket so I can easily throw it into my bag. Its become my top layer in winter when I ski in the Midwest. It layers great with my nano puff or re-tool snap fleece or just a sweatshirt when I'm skiing and doesn't bog me down like other shells I've had in the past. It breathes great and protects me from the wind and the rain.
I will say that when it gets really wet it gets clingy and you think that you're getting wet but you never really do. I've had other rain jackets that gave me a similar sensation but when it felt clingy that meant you were getting wet. I've learned to trust my torrentshell because it hasn't let me down yet.
I bought this jacket last winter as a layering piece for my winter ensamble (winters in the midwest can be pretty unforgiving). It's done a great job at keeping me warm and I love how bright the color is (mine is a bright turquoise). It also has doubled many times as a car pillow because of how nice and squishy it is. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because it does catch and pill on certain things and compacts a lot if it gets damp. But other than that it has done exactly what I expected it to do.
I have this dress in the blue stripe and I wear it all the time. I have riden bikes, spilt adult beverages on it, gotten it muddy, been completely soaked in a rain storm (it dried really quickly after that ordeal which I was pleasantly surprised about) , taken it to japan and even after all washes, and bouts with a questionable drier, it look brand new. The fit is great, not too tight and not too baggy. It is a little short for my taste to go without leggings (unless its moonlighting as a swimsuit cover up) and I always get compliments on it when I wear it. I just ordered the 3/4 sleeve Au Bateau dress that Patagonia just came out with, we'll see if I have as much love for it as this one.
